Cruz to Trump: Go ahead and sue me for defamation over my ad. I’ll depose you myself.

Two things about this. One: Cruz is entirely right that Trump's lawsuit would be frivolous. Watch the allegedly "defamatory" ad below. It's Politics 101: My opponent may say X now but he said Y before, so how can you possibly trust that X is his true opinion? Trump seems to think that using old footage of him stating his own position on abortion constitutes defamation unless the viewer is also told that he's since changed his mind. It would be like Rubio suing over an ad that showed him touting comprehensive immigration reform in 2013 because he no longer believes that's feasible (for the time being). Good luck with that in court. But then, the point of threatening a suit isn't to win or even to try to intimidate Cruz, who knows this is garbage, but simply to get the media to write it up. Trump has done major damage to Cruz's favorable rating over the last six weeks by accusing him of being a liar and a cheat. A voter who sees a headline that Trump may sue over defamation will have no idea whether that claim has merit or not; all he'll know is that Cruz's supposed dishonesty has now reached the point where legal action may be warranted. Who'd want to vote for a guy like that? This is all about impugning Cruz's character, not "defamation."

Two: That said, I don't know what the point of this presser was. It'd be one thing if Cruz had walked out there and given a short but pointed statement to Trump: You're full of it, we both know it, and if you sue I'll tear you apart in deposition....

Trump should expose Cruz Messiah complex ingrained by his preacher father. Cruz thinks he's a prophet, knows what Trump will do regarding SC nominees and the god has special plans for him coz daddy said so. Arrogant, ego centric and a liar just for a start. No friends is a bad sign. If you are missing the message trust that those who know and work with him see more than he is showing to public.

That could be true, except Trump has spent more time going after Bush.

Only after Bush showed himself to be a lousy candidate. When's he going after Rubio?

And once again make the turd look like a moron.

Cruz gets no credit for Trump looking like a moron, Donald owns that all by himself.

Cruz could get a twofer out of this. Any way he could initiate this against Trump given the damage this could potentially inflict? If Cruz is absolutely certain he is running in good standing, he could damage Trump heavily.

If not, he has another decision he needs to make in good faith to the American people. If he is not eligible he needs to stand down.

Recently donated to Cruz. Personally, if think Cruz is running in good standing and has passed the standards of most election boards. I like Trump, too, but he really concerns me with some of his outbursts. I think he’s damaged himself with his continued behavior.

Either one of them is miles above the establishment slimes.

Strange thing, when you change your opinion on abortion the babies are still just as dead.

He got a settlement - it wasn’t disclosed how much though. He won, so, what’s your point? Cruzbots are pathetic creatures.

Trump will sue Cruz only over one thing... eligibility. And this will depend completely on how things shape up after Super Tuesday.

Yep, Trump files a suit in all 50 states I guarantee you he is going to find more then one that issues a ruling removing cruz off the ballot. It is going to happen sooner or later, my hope was that Trump would not have to do it himself. But if he does, I good with it. I'm tired of having foreigners for POTUS.

This isn’t a “birther”’ claim, it’s about Cruz’s eligibility, and Americans need to know one way or the other. Why did Cruz seal so many of his records, if he has nothig to hide?

Trump has thought about running for years. He didn’t jump in just to make trouble - but to Make America Great Again. That’s something a lawyer/politician can and never will do.,

The point was me2T - (me too Ted) Trump held a press conference, so Cruz, devoid of any original ideas of his own, copy catted. It’s that simple.
