Donald Trump Says He May Ted Cruz to Disqualify Him: 'I Already Have a Lawyer'

Donald Trump says he's considering suing GOP rival Ted Cruz to challenge the Canada-born Texas senator's eligibility to be president.

"I'm thinking about it very seriously," the GOP front-runner told ABC News' George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America Tuesday. "I already have a lawyer, we're looking at it very seriously, we're thinking about it."

Most Constitutional scholars agree that Cruz, who was born in Calgary to an American mother and a Canadian father, is eligible to run for president. But Trump has repeatedly questioned the senator's presidential qualifications under the Constitution's "natural-born citizen" clause.

"He was born in Canada," Trump said Tuesday. "Lawyers - many lawyers - are saying he doesn't even have the right to run for president. He can't be president because of the fact he was born in Canada, lived there for years. I mean, under that theory I guess Winston Churchill could be" president....

I imagine the fact that Churchill has been dead for over 50 years might prevent that.

You imply that Cruz's NBC (nat born cit) is beyond question, when if fact a legitimate
case can be made against it.

I profess no expertise; but the argument appears to have merit. And of course, it means
neither Rubio nor Obama are eligible, and all that that implies.

I refuse to wear a cheerleader outfit in this high school contest between Cruz & Trump.
And certainly no pom-poms. Isn't the issue worthy of discussion?

Which begs the question posed earlier, why if he’s so far ahead?

Apparently you have the same low value of the Constitution that Obama has since it doesn’t matter to you. But at least you aren’t making up lies.

What are the lies on Trumps positions?

As far as I can see there have been ZERO.

Trump is just toying with Cruz (and his supporters here) now like a cat with a wounded mouse.

You keep telling yourself that.

Trump will not do it

(1) If he does it and wins, all of his opponents will attack him and say that he only wins by disqualifying his opponents, not by the strengths of his positions, much like Obama did in his Illinois races.

() If he does this and looses. It helps Cruz. People will think Trump doesn’t know the law that well and could suggest that Cruz would be the better president, in light of Scalia’s passing.

(3) If he talks a lot about it but does nothing, which is where we are now. This puts the seed of doubt in voters minds about Cruz, but doesn’t actually lead to a resolution, which would play out as points (1) and (2).

He will continue to talk about it, but, he continue to do nothing about it.

I agree, it should be resolved, and if Trump already has a lawyer.........

How do you lie about on the issues when he flipped flopped so often you can say anything about a position Trump has held and be called a liar since Trump has also held the opposite position.

This is what happens when you run against a man with no core beliefs beyond his narcissism.

I would like to see Ted Cruz speak about the First Amendment as it relates to the situation that has occurred in Oregon and the killing of an AZ Rancher. “Congress shall make no law concerning the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

The media has portrayed honest, hard working, patriotic Americans as “occupiers and militia men.” Their crime, teaching the Constitution! It has come to a time in America where we the people fear our government with good reason.

We decided that we stand with the Finicum family and the other patriots who have been jailed. We made the decision to attend the funeral of LaVoy Finicum this past Friday. Numerous people tried to talk us out of going to the funeral. Saying, “You will be marked, you know the FBI is labeling anyone who supports this as a domestic terrorist” People genuinely felt we put ourselves at risk by attending the funeral of an American Patriot.
Following the funeral the Finicum family gave a statement. Thara Finicum Tenney and Belle Finicum Collier said, “Many questions remain unanswered about our fathers death. We don’t want the media’s bias. We don’t want the FBI’s bias. We want the truth.”

The sisters said their dad had been called many things by the world this week but they call him Daddy. They said their “Daddy” believed he was following the law. “It was the federal government that was violating it. We agree with him. We also agree with Thomas Jefferson who once said, ‘When government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.’”

Belle continued, choking back tears, “Do we believe that peaceful actions justify the use of deadly force? Do we believe that two hands up in surrender justifies the use of deadly force? Do we believe that following the rule of law, the U.S. Constitution justifies the use of deadly force? If we do then where is liberty?”

This week I wept for the Finicum family, our country and the loss of innocence for a young girl, Victoria Sharp who now has body guards because she witnessed the murder of a fellow American at the hands of the authorities. Will you stand with the Patriots and demand a full investigation into the killing of LaVoy Finicum? Do you believe in Freedom or is tyranny acceptable?”

I would love to see Ted Cruz & his supporters stand on the side of ‪#‎LibertyRising‬

That is a crock, no one that I know of who has actually studied the US Constitution and onto the so called settled case law involving obama, thinks for even a minute that Cruz and or Rubio quality.

To be a Natural Born Citizen one must be born of two parents, one male one female who are both US citizens at the time of the birth which takes place either in one of the states or on either a US military base or within a US Embassy.

Neither Cruz or Rubio are Natural Born Citizens. Both are Americans, but neither is a Natural Born US Citizen.

Because birthright citizenship under the 14th amendment is based on Jus Soli or "Born To The Soil"

A lot of “looking into,” a lot of “seriously thinking about,” and a lot of threatening.

A lot of talk.

Enough with this I'm gonna sue unless Cruz does (fill in the blank)... Enough threats. Enough promises. Enough innuendo. Enough whining. Either file the damned suit or shut up about it.

I can't wait to see the President His Donaldness use these hard hitting tactics to make the democrats... do what they've always done. I'm sure if we just yelled at Harry Reid long enough he'd give in. Yeah that’ll work.

Cruz should hire some Polish Migrants to go door to door for him in S Carolina, without shoes, so Trump would have some standing to SUE!

Where did this definition come from?

If it's not on the front page of His Donaldness’s twitter account then we must assume that he's had a fundamental change since then and wait to find out what he really believes. To say what he said last week would be dishonest.

That and all the foreign countries he’s going to re-do all our deals with and mandate better ones. How is he going to do that when he’s nothing but empty threats?

You keep on inventing your own private constitution.

I like the real one much better.

He who is born a citizen is a natural born citizen.

Twist all you wish.
