“Cruz has already defeated Trump on conservative principals. The problem is Trump has defeated Cruz on emotions. In this election so far emotions have trumped conservatism.”

Truth

Yea, I’m sensing in a lot of people claiming to be Cruz supporters (some like are Cruz supporters) that they would MUCH PREFER to “lose on principal” than to get a guy in there that will SEAL THE BORDER and CLEAR OUT THE ILLEGALS, but also partially fund Planned Parenthood.

Well, as a Cruz supporter, I reject the idea that I'd prefer to "lose on PRINCIPLE." I happen to think that Cruz would stand a better chance in the general than DJT, as the latter has the highest negatives of any candidate running. Yes, Trump's legions of fans love him, but a ton of folks hate him and think he's a classless buffoon. He'll be hard sell in the fall.

Also, I guess I'm skeptical of his promises to, as you say, "SEAL THE BORDER and CLEAR OUT THE ILLEGALS." Sure, maybe he'll do that. Or maybe he'll get elected and say, "Thanks, suckers, for your votes, but never mind. I just cut a deal with Chuck Schumer on an amnesty plan. And it's such a great deal-- unbelievable, phenomenal, amazing. It blows away that whole wall thing." Donald is a confidence man, folks, and you are his marks.

“Thanks, suckers, for your votes, but never mind. I just cut a deal with Chuck Schumer on an amnesty plan.”

Rubio HAS A HISTORY of doing that. Cruz has been on BOTH SIDES. The rest aren’t even trying to fool us on the issue, they’re proud of being Open Borders.

So maybe Trump will be like the above...but it’s hard to believe he’ll be any worse - and if he does keep his word, he will be MUCH BETTER than any of the above.

Ah the old meaningless "get things done" canard. Get what done? Think the GOPe is going to work to reduce government? I don't, but I'm sure the Democrats would just love to make deals and "get things done"!

“Let’s face it, at this point, Cruz has no principles, conservative or otherwise.”

Then you ought to be able to indict him if Ted is so evil. Thank God (I mean thank Trump) that the world now has The Donald to show us truth and light, because we need a messiah who is immaculately born.

Trump has been a liar his entire life. He even admits to it and calls it “Truthful Hyperbole”. Only a sucker would listen to his words now.

Trump is going to win on the one topic most important to the voters:

THE ECONOMY

We’ve been sold out for the last 30 years by politicians who claim to be “conservatives”. Every time Ted lies about something, we are reminded that he is indeed a politician, first and foremost.

Freshmen Senators with huge power ambitions, messiah complexes, questionable citizenship, and absolutely no executive experience have ruined this nation.

We won’t repeat the mistake. Even if Trump only accomplishes the wall and changes our trade deficit with China, he will have been a much better gamble than Cruz.

Trumpbots have no conservative principles.

Trump’s last debate antics prove that he is not really buying the ‘unbeatable’ Trump Promotion bullshite. Confidence does not generate irrational bad behavior.

Cruz is toast!

Cruz will not ‘win over’ any more ‘conservatives’ than the 20% he’s got now.

Where is going to get more ‘conservatives’ to beat TRUMP?

From.. Rubio? (he doesn’t have any)

From.. Yes? (see above)

From.. Katich? (see above)

From.. Carson? ( what 5%?)

“I happen to think that Cruz would stand a better chance in the general than DJT, as the latter has the highest negatives of any candidate running.”

I have not seen ANY EVIDENCE that Cruz has the ability to reach beyond his Evangelical/Tea Party base...maybe you have, but I haven’t - if anything he’s in EVEN WORSE shape now than when the campaign started, given all of the prayer breakfasts and related stuff he felt compelled to do to win Iowa and have a chance in SC.

As to Trump, his negatives were JUST AS BAD with Republicans when he first announced. No one gave him a chance in hell and his poll numbers were terrible. Now his negatives are actually LOWER than any other Republican, with regard to Republican voters (only slightly, in some cases, but still lower).

Given his populist platform, I suspect the same will happen in November. Right now he’s trying to get past the crowded Primary field - once that’s done, he’ll start marketing to the general public and he will be COMPLETELY DIFFERENT, and, as happened before, his negatives will drop, BIG TIME.

I realize that a lot of people have difficulty understanding Trump and his methods, which is why I don’t get angry at those who oppose him.

He’ll get rid of that pesky ‘Jewish’ problem.

Ooops, I had a flashback to 1932.

you are so right irishjuggler:

Trump is a Kardashian candidate.... famous for being famous, yet a real sophomoric, egomaniacal, vulgar opportunist.
I for one do not want a candidate who has helped fund the Clinton slush fund, donated to Hillary directly, Nany Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Rahm Emmanuel. I bet you can find his fingers on a donation to Obama also.

He claims conservatism but supports politicians who espouse socialist, liberal philosophies.
He has praised Hillary as the best person to negotiate with the Iranians!!
He even invited the Clintons to his third, or is it 4th?, wedding.
He is not to be trusted, looking out for himself only as he attempts to buy the Presidency.

I will not be able to vote for him no matter who his competition is in the general, and pray that he will be on the sidelines by then.
I can’t imagine any real conservative-minded person trusting him to appoint constitutional conservative thinkers to the Supreme Court, and sure don’t want his shoot-from-the-hip emotional outbursts controlling this country.
I am hoping for a mirace, I know, but the good people of S Carolina and beyond will hopefully see past this theatric emotional rhetoric and nominate a person of principal.
