Heâs a brilliant orator with a sharp legal mind. But his expression unsettles me. I know my reaction is visceral and automatic, but as a neurologist it is my business to notice things out of the ordinary and probe them. The Senatorâs atypical expressions leave me uneasy.
Skill in reading faces is so fundamental to our species that 54 facial muscles orchestrate its endless nuances, which others read like a book just as we read them. Only some of these many facial muscles are under voluntary control, which is one reason it is so hard to maintain a poker face or counterfeit a smile.
Downturned expressions usually signal disagreeableness or disgust. But I honestly donât know because such an expression is rare in the context of public presentations that are meant to win people over. He may well be unaware that the message of his body language is incongruent with his words.

Many in the psychiatric profession also are in favor of incest and pedophilia as “healthy.”
They have no credibility.
Psycho-babble.
Richard needs to get on the couch and figure out why he hates Cruz.
I stay away from shrinks. Never have visited one, and do not intend to. When I am stressed, I play golf for 4 hours. Best stress reliever there is, for me anyways.
Trumps name calling and loose slander makes me uneasy . His total flip from social liberal to ultra conservative or as Jimma Carta says he’s so malleable meaning to me he flexes under stress .
Don’t fool yourself, many people get vibes about people. They instinctually assess a person in ways other than words.
Once people like SNL gets hold of stuff like this, it WILL have merit.
Cruz comes off as someone that takes himself WAY too seriously, accurate or not. He isnt a funny person, nor does he have an ability to be seen as someone that “gets” you.
That all radiates through his almost pasted-on facial expression. He doesn’t seem to be able to show any genuine emotion though it.
It will be so easy to parody (the line “I always look like I’m peeing myself from SNL comes to mind) that it will start to stick.
Because you’re a shrink, invested in finding problems where none exist.
Oh, and because your liberal bias drives you in that direction in the first place.
Oh, my word. These types of people would be really funny, if they didn’t have so much influence in our brain-damaged culture...
Maybe if the psychologists/psychiatrists took the meds, instead of the patients...
Facial expressions, bah!
Phrenology shows that Ted is a genius.
it’s more than psychobabble- the show ‘brain games’ did an experiment with people on the street once, where they would hold up two photos of obscure, unknown politicians who ran for office, one a winner, the other didn’t win- and asked the people to guess which one won
The results were very surprising, because it showed that looks do matter- in all cases, the people chose the correct winner based on nothing more than how the person looked-
The point was that the participants pretty much echoed how the voting public actually voted- they chose the better looking people, the people with the better smile, or better hair, or who dressed better- etc=- every time practically
Sadly that’s all that really matters to many people- how someone looks-
What a pile of crap.
Need I comment further?
By the time you’re forty, you have the face you deserve.
(Old saying that’s been around a while, meaning your dominant state of mind becomes your default facial expression).
Yeah, it's not like he has any consultants, handlers, advisors or simply old friends who could possible mention to him, "Why are you wincing so conspicuously when you refer to your family?" or "Have you ever noticed how you actually frown and shake your head when you allude to the Bill of Rights?"

Leets hear his take on Obamas face.
Valerie Jarrett?
Susan Rice?
Hillary?
Cheryl Mills?
Huma?
Samantha Power?
Michael Moore?
If smiling was important to me, I’d vote for Jimmy Carter. :-)
