Sarah Palin talks about Trump’s Iowa loss and whether they’ve discussed running together

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin flew out of Iowa on Tuesday after traveling there to campaign with presidential hopeful Donald Trump.

Yahoo News spoke to Palin, who was the GOP's vice presidential candidate in 2008, as she passed through airport security. Trump came in second to Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, in the Iowa caucuses on Monday night, so we asked Palin whether she thinks Trump will catch up in the next primary state, New Hampshire.

"I think so," Palin said of Trump's chances in the Granite State. "He's going to do well there."

Palin also shared her thoughts on why Trump, who had been the frontrunner, was defeated in Iowa.

"I think he just had to have seen more of his conservative side out, because Iowa's so good and conservative," Palin said.

Palin endorsed Trump on Jan. 19. Given her popularity among conservatives, the endorsement was seen as a boost for Trump's chances in Iowa. At the airport on Tuesday, Yahoo suggested to Palin that Trump might have done better in the caucuses if he had brought her out on the trail with him sooner.

"That's so nice," she said of the suggestion....

Up till now Ive been hearing how Trump would win and has won everything just based on the polls. In Trump’s world of Winners and Losers its nice to se the winner lose

It was absolutely cringe inducing. Trump looked pained. The women seems like a complete hot mess. I think she is charismatic & I have never seen her take a bad picture, but she has no business representing g the US in any capacity.

Sara Palins problem right now is that she has not held office for almost nine years

The republican party gave her a raw deal by not standing by her and blaming her for the fact that john McCain lost.

Ihe party allowed the democratic party operative to savage her with false statements. in some cases establishment republicans joined in going after her when she became active with the TEA party movement.

what happen to Sara Palin is not new it happen to Dan Quale.

The democratic party loves to savage anyone they see as connecting with the base or those that prove how much shit there full of.

there are three political figures that I think we as a party have not done enough of sticking up for when they have been subject to character assassination
Vice president Dan Quale ,
Governor Sara Palin
Supreme court Justice Thomas Clearance.

Common sense qualifies. Sorry, I view things differently from most people. Forget I said it, go by the book.

Trump lost but Rubio won even though he did worse than Trump. Yeah OK right.

Cruz had the ground game. Trump had virtually no ground game. However, Cruz’s ground game was spent on one state on a caucus system. Primaries are a different matter. I have heard that Bush could win the New Hampshire Primary if he drew decent crowds but, he doesn’t. Actually, I think Trump will win in New Hampshire. He is packing in crowds already at 5,000 a rally.

Alaska, though huge geographically, is a tiny state government-wise, almost more like a smallish medium-sized city than a state. That’s a very complex, crucial position with a ton of infighting, back-biting, parochial interests and huge expenditures. I see her more in the role of Interior or even Indian Affairs.

Touch-back Amnesty, Pro-Abortion, and Single-payer government controlled healthcare has never and will never be a conservative platform.

Non of those are on Trumps platform, none. You say touch-back amnesty, but Trump has never said that nor does it in anyway represent what he has proposed. But now lets take a look at cruz and his parties platform. You say cruz is not part of the GOPe? well than why are they funding his supper PACs? Cruz fought to get amnesty added to the gang of 8 bill, he did claim that it was not amnesty because it did not grant citizenship. But it did legalize all the illegals that are already here. Cruz and his party have had the power to stop funding abortions through the purse for years and yet not a penny has been cut. Cruz and his party have passed how many budgets that fully fund obamacare since cruz has been in congress? You say cruz is a leader, yet the only things he has accomplished in DC is passing TPA and reading Dr. Suess on the senate floor. We all have our own definition for conservative, it sounds like yours is someone who talks a lot.

Even though The Donald lost by 6,237 votes, he was happy he did so well. He said he was competing with professional politicians. Cruz, being the politician, was working Iowa over a year ago. He had 12,000 volunteers. With that good of a ground game, why didn’t he do better?

“...crucial position with a ton of infighting, back-biting, parochial interests and huge expenditures.”

Sounds all the more needful for someone with strong common sense to handle that. But again, my thoughts are not by D.C.’s book.

Trump did not look “pained” while Sarah gave her fabulous endorsement speech. It was the best she has ever given. And while she gave it, Trump was nodding constantly in approval.

Nice try bucko!

Non of those are on Trumps platform, none.

And yet, he is on record for supporting each of them and proof can be found both this year and last of his supporting each of them.

Please remove me from the Palin list as well.

I’ve lost enough respect for her already after she sold out the Tea-Party, Social Conservatives, and Constitutional Conservatives when she backed the moderate Trump over the Consistent Conservative Cruz.

I agree. We should start supporting Cruz.

Conservative Treehouse convinced me to support Trump in September 2015. Iowans convinced me to support Cruz this month. Kurt Schlicter points out that Trump might not be the best president, since he would probably appoint Laurence Tribe to the Supreme Court.

You mean South Carolina... The Duck Dynasty patriarch should help Cruz there, as will the anti-endorsement from Linda Graham.
