Crying to the Bank: As GOP Disses Him, Cruz Campaign Takes in $700K

As party elites gang up on the Texas senator chasing Trump, he's winning the money race.

Ted Cruz turned his bad day in Iowa into a cash cow.

The Texas senator's campaign announced it had raked more than $700,000 just on Tuesday, after he was singled out by Iowa's Republican Gov. Terry Branstad as a bad choice for the GOP and passed over by Sarah Palin, who instead announced her endorsement of real estate mogul Donald Trump.

The eye-popping haul "put us over the $50 million mark for this campaign," Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler said on CNN Wednesday night. "We are built to last and ready to go."

That would make Cruz just the second Republican candidate to raise north of $50 million in the 2016 election cycle, following Jeb Bush, whose early cash glut - mostly donations to his Right to Rise super PAC - has tapered off along with his sagging poll numbers, as loyal donors look for a sign to move on....

I like how the article quotes Bob Dole a two-term president as saying that if Cruz defeats Trump, it would be disastrous for the GOP.

Same here. I think the senator needs to re-craft his delivery a bit concerning Donald Trump: “It has come out recently that my friend Donald may have ties to organized crime. It’s reputed to be one of the reasons he didn’t run in 2012. I like Donald and I desperately hope that’s not the case, but if it is, I think it needs to be addressed before he’s nominated and before Hillary Clinton has a chance to use it against him...”

I have not yet donated to Cruz, but I think I will soon. Maybe tomorrow, the 42nd anniversary of Roe v. Wade, since I can trust Cruz to be a true social and constitutional conservative, and a brilliant one at that.

Cruz can get whatever amount he wants from Goldman Sachs and Robert Mercer. By his signature or by a phone call. He can have Heidi make the call (she’s been in the NY banking biz for 15 years except for stint as Washington Insider Bureaucrat; her specialties are complex derivatives and “free trade”-—which is dog whistle for “US gets screwed on the trade deal.”) I hate to see regular people send their money to someone who can get millions from NY banks and a hedge fund manager in trouble with the IRS seeking influence. He can get more from those two donor-class gay hoteliers he meets with than everyone on FR. Give me a break.

I am sorry for your handicap. Truly. But Cruz borrowed money secured by his own equities. This is known as a margin loan to capitalists. Socialist morons who support corporatism, Mitch McConnell, ethanol subsidies and government theft of private property call it “getting whatever amount he wants from Goldman Sachs”.
