According to Frank Luntz's Fox News focus group, Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz won the latest Republican presidential debate. Though hardly a scientific measure in the usual sense, the finding is nonetheless informative and will help shape the race in the closing days before the crucial first in the nation Iowa caucuses.
Cruz is battling New York developer Donald Trump for the lead, which probably explains why Trump - who in the past had nothing but kind words for the first-term senator - has finally opened fire on his erstwhile ally. Cruz has become too big a threat to ignore, at least for the moment. It's also not the right time to try to co-opt him by promising the vice presidential nomination in Cleveland in exchange for the support of his delegates if the GOP convention actually does not produce a nominee on the first ballot.
That said, Trump's chosen line of attack - to question Cruz's constitutional viability as a presidential candidate because he was born in Canada - is ridiculous and no fair-minded, rational, constitutional or legal scholar with a lick of sense would suggest otherwise.
The "birther" issue is Cruz's first immediate problem. Some recent polls seem to indicate some Iowa conservatives may be taking the matter to heart. In fact, suggesting that Cruz is constitutionally ineligible to be the president of the United States because of the geography of his birth is as dumb as suggesting Barack Obama was. The nonsense surrounding Obama and his birth certificate, which the president's political team played skillfully to his advantage, was born of wackos seeking a quick and easy way to overturn legally the voter's choice in the 2008 election. No one should have taken it seriously then and no one should take it seriously now....

Trump won by 54% Cruz second with 29% . Pretty simple to find out— ask people to respond on line. ANYONE CAN TAKE THE POLL!!

A willing/complicit press and a D behind his name made the difference. Cruz will be fully vetted and rectally inspected as will every Republican nominee.

Online polls are nothing. You should read the article and think about it. Cruz has absolute best favs and unfavs and he will probably have it locked up in March like he said.
I’m supporting Trump/Cruz and would appreciate less insults to fellow Freepers...we’re neither DULL nor “bots”...
