Free Republic Straw Poll (January 2016 edition)
January 3, 2016 | 2ndDivisionVet

Posted on 01/03/2016 2:58:47 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

If you had to vote in your state primary/caucus today, knowing what you know now about the various declared and probable candidates, who would you vote for? Why? Who would you like to see as the running mate for your preferred candidate? If you could help staff your candidates cabinet and other top appointments, who would you choose? If you could recommend different congressional leaders than we have now, who would they be? And who would you like to see on the Supreme Court and why? And finally, feel free to donate to Free Republic.

If the election were held today, who would be your first choice for President of the United States?

1:00 AM, 1/4/15:

69% Trump. 23% Cruz.

Game over.

Uh, we do not have a popular vote system, nor is this a rigorous scientific poll.

See post 422.

Yes, I am sure. Trump is not a plant for Hillary. I am positive.

"...Cruz cannot win over the Democrat machine in the general."

Unsupported assertion alert!

For the latter part of my career I made my living as a trend analyst, predicting the future in various segments of the marketplace. No one has a perfect batting average; but rest assured my opinions are not based merely on my personal feelings; but on research and experience.

Whereas most of the Cruz supporters are going on pure emotion; sadly.

Art in Idaho, the AdSAM Perceptual Map looks interesting, but it is blurry in reproduction here. Would you please provide a link to the original? Seems worth looking at more closely.

Anybody here from Hawaii??

Of course, my vote won’t count in the general but I need to find out how many votes we get in the primary. There’s a fairly strong Republican party here.

Surely you jest.

Cruz voters on emotion?? Trump voters on reason?

I guess your name’s not Shirley either.

I'm from New York. That can't be good lol. I don’t know the rules here

It's a blue state; and checking with your county Board of Elections web site should tell you what your primary rules are where you live.

As far as the nation goes, one of the advantages of having a political party that actually does what it is supposed to do is that party strategists are aware of the complex rules and angles in a Republic of ostensibly sovereign states (LOL!), and strive to develop a comprehensive strategy. Except if they are the Republican Party, unfortunately: it's the strategy-free Stupid Party.
