A report from the campaign field in Iowa demonstrates what could be a big problem for Donald Trump, getting all those people who have been showing up at his rallies to actually show up to vote:
When Donald Trump held one of his boisterous rallies at the state fairgrounds this month, Bonnie and Randy Reynolds arrived two hours early to make sure they could snag seats. They bought âMake America Great Againâ hats, put on campaign T-shirts and passed through a security checkpoint.
The West Des Moines couple, who have two grown children, had never been to a political event before. Bonnie works in a mailroom; Randy is a press operator. They donât live paycheck to paycheck, but it would take just one small catastrophe to push them there.
âIn the end, everything that heâs saying might not happen if he is elected â but Iâm willing to give it a shot,â said Randy Reynolds, 49, who used to vote for Democrats but switched to Republicans a decade ago. âI will give him 100 percent. .â.â. It would be amazing if the majority of things that he said would actually happen. That would be amazing.â(continued)

There’s a way for the Trump campaign to solve that problem. Have a mini-rally in each county before the caucus, and lead the rally-goes to the caucus.
I gather the author doesn’t want Trumpsters to show up
EXACTLY and he probably has that figured out already.
He whipped this story to meet a publishing deadline.
Jerry: “It’s gotta be about something.”
George: “Nope ...it’s about NOTHING!!” [sweeps hand]
Latest thoughts on the ground from Steve Deace’s FB page:
Three off-week Iowa Caucus thoughts.
1. There is a better chance Marco Rubio will finish fourth here than he will actually win.
2. There is a better chance Mike Huckabee will drop out of the race by caucus night than he will finish in the top three.
3. There is a better chance Ted Cruz will break the all-time caucus vote record than Donald Trump will be able to turn out 15-20,000 new voters just for himself.
Depends what is on TV.
While I think it is likely that Ted Cruz will finish first at the Iowa caucuses, maybe by an overwhelming majority, and even assuming that he does, can he maintain that into the “beauty contest” SEC primaries?
That’s my biggest worry; I’m hoping that the next couple months will ease my mind.
Kay, what percent of Trump supporters show up. Say even 10%. And Cruz? Even if 100%, that is still less than Trump. Game over. Trump to win as more than 10% will show and surely less than 100% of Cruz’s meager gatherings will do so. Besides, with Graham tossing the Republican Party aside, that will depress Cruz religious support.
And Steve Deace is in the tank for Cruz. I’d expect him to say that Cruz is going to win. Too bad Cruz has peaked already and has no chance to win the nomination.
Read it and weep:
Observers say Cruz in control in Iowa

The media is rolling out its last initiative; trying to enlist the power of suggestion.
It’s amazing how many stories have been written and how many news reports read about whether Trmp’s supporters will show up for the Iowa caucuses. Lots of wishful thinking being expended by those hoping they won’t show up, mostly by the same people who’ve declared three or four Trump implosions each, along with as many or more declarations that Trump had hit his ceiling of support.
Ah... I see, it’s a pro Cruz media conspiracy. I guess it HAD to be something like that because obviously no rational person could support anyone but Trump. Is that it?
The author is merely regurgitating some Washington Post and NYTimes agitprop aimed at Trump voter suppression. I saw two talking heads on TV today who said if you really look at it Trump has a good organization. One who predicted very early Trump would be in 1st place. He also pointed out several reports that showed the Spartan Trump NY headquarters, correctly noting that’s what Trump wants people to see. There are 68 floors in Trump Tower. ;)
There’s a good article on Bloomberg about Cruz rearranging his schedule to tour to the Southern states this week instead of returning to Iowa.
This little corn state rules the world it seems
Certainly there will be Trump supporters at the caucuses. Nobody is denying that. The question is, will they be able to overcome the huge advantage of the Ted Cruz voters who are numerous (ahead of or tied with Trump in the polls), committed (you better believe it) and better organized.
Bloomberg has an article about Cruz heading to the southern states this week instead of Iowa as previously planned.
Not worried about any caucus stuff, I fully expect Trump will not win Iowa but will take most it not all states with regular voting.
