Why My Vote is for Ted Cruz
Red State ^ | December 19, 2015 | TN Gal

Posted on 12/19/2015 11:00:14 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

At this point in the campaigns we all pretty much know where our preferred candidates stand on issues that mean the most to us as individuals. You know whether you and your candidate are in sync. I have no problem saying I’m in sync with Ted Cruz on the issues. But for me it’s more than just the issues this time. My vote will be cast for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100% because of my absolute and utter loathing for Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) 47%. A protest vote. A protest against one of my own kind, supposedly.

For awhile Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) 13%was the opposition. She and Senate cohort Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) 10% still don’t rank high in my book. But I’m honest enough to recognize they are fighting for their beliefs and values as much as I am fighting for mine. True, theirs are misguided but that’s a subject for another day....

I like Cruz.

My concern is the GOPe would turn off the money and he’d die on the vine in the general. Trump’s ability to self fund could make the difference.

But Cruz has the legit, consistent conservative credentials. I’d like to see Trump one term it given his age and Cruz be the VP / then 8-years as president. Then retire to the Supreme Court.

Believe it or not I don’t think I’d have a problem with that set up.

I'll vote for Trump in the primary and vote whoever wins it, if not Trump ... which would probably be Cruz

Trump's "draw" is he is a live exhibition of Americanism

He talks plain and swaggers just enough .... 'cause we USED TO swagger ... until we bought the "it ain't good to swagger" line.

Kind'a like buyin' into the "never talk about politics, religion and sex" thing

... and where are all of our troubles ?

politics ... religion ... sex.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100%

Let's say that again. 100%.

100% conservative. If you want bold colors, that's it.

Yup. There are not many of us who factor in Trump’s age as one of many aspects of the Trump/Cruz ticket. Trumpsterize the government bastards (Ryan, McConnell for example) and our other enemies for the first 4, then Cruz 8.

We have room (and need) the swagger and brass knuckles from a street fighter like Trump to pound the crap out of our enemies - foreign and domestic, we also need a hard core Rule of Law Constitutional debater like Ted.

My state has no primary so I’ll be waiting to see what happens. I’ll be quite happy with Trump or Cruz.

May the best candidate win.

I trust Cruz more than any GOP pres wannabe. I’m sick of Republicans selling out and am convinced Cruz won’t.

I would like to see a Cruz/lePage ticket. That’s Main’s governor Paul lePage

STOP! For the love of God!!! STOP with hamster-wheel tread of fantasizing that we can somehow have a little of each, they're both just so good!

We have to choose one. Now. We wish we could have them both, but we have to choose one. I say, dump Trump, choose Cruz.

And you just blithely assume that Trump would oblige you, naming Cruz to the Supreme Court? What if you're wrong? How predictable is Donald Trump?

Eight years ago he was loving Hillary and Bill to high heaven; today, she's a target of his scorn. Four years from now ... no one has a clue as to where he'll be, not even Trump. His political compass is as mercurial as the markets.

Ted Cruz is the smarter choice. He's not perfect -- he's conservative.

We need at least one term of Trump to bulldoze out the crap in D.C. He’s got the force to do it.

Cruz is trained to manipulate words to suit his desired outcome so how do we really know what he believes especially with a couple questionable positions he’s trying to sweet talk away. He has zero management experience compared to Trump. I’d take him as VP so he can learn. But for me, he will never match Trump who has been running a big enterprise all his life.

I am just fed up with these career politicians who get rich off their “public service” (HA!) and who see the presidency as the ultimate achievement of THEIR career. I’ll take the guy who doesn’t need to be doing this but can’t stand to see his country continue to be destroyed by greed and stunning incompetence.

"Swagger," you call it? I call it cockiness, arrogance, braggadocio, characteristic of pains-in-the-butt kinda people. And Trump's too old (old enough to be Cruz's pa) to be engaging in young man's cockiness ala Top Gun. He's also hot-headed. It slows him down and makes him sloppy with language.

I'd rather go for calm, young, cool confidence. That would be Ted Cruz.

Dump Trump. Choose Cruz.

Trump would be concerned about his legacy.

Placing some one like Cruz on the court would secure that legacy for decades.

I support Cruz for many reasons, but the biggest one (which gets almost no airplay) is that he’s the only candidate whom I trust to pick Supreme Court nominees.
