At the beginning of this year â back when the notion that Donald Trump might dominate the presidential race was a dystopian scenario as unimaginably remote as The Man in the High Castle â the most horrifying thing Republican insiders could imagine was a Ted Cruz nomination. In much the same way that Trump has set the terms of the presidential debate in ways that discomfited the partyâs leadership and fired up the base, Cruz did the same in Washington. The intense loathing Cruz inspired among every professional Republican politician not named Ted Cruz made his nomination difficult to fathom. But the rise of Trump has changed many things, and one of them may be to grant Republican insiders a new perspective on just what unacceptable means.
The centrality of Trump has framed the Republican campaign as a binary question of Trump against whichever contender emerges as the non-Trump. Instead, the race may well be condensing into a three-way contest between Trump, Marco Rubio, and Cruz. Ben Carson, who has previously absorbed a large share of the Evangelical vote, has swiftly declined, allowing Cruz to rise into the top tier. One recent poll had him leading in Iowa, though others have shown Trump still ahead...

I only ask because I haven't heard hide nor hair of him since the last debate.
[Trump] == [artillery prep]
Well, well, well....another attempt to get Cruz’ & Trump’s supporters to go to war with one another. I’m detecting a trend in the main stream media.
Another horror story by 2nd Div Vet. Does anyone think the GOPe want Cruz anymore than Trump? lol
Well, war has certainly broke out here on FR, just like in every election cycle.
Rubio is all over Fox News. They even had him responding to Obama’s speech. He is still, very much the GOPe back up candidate.
Yep they want Cruz and Trump voters to attack each other.
Well I ma not buying it.
Go Trump or Cruz.
I saw Rubio in an airplane hangar speaking to about 120 (guesstimate) of his not sounding very enthused supporters last night.
I guess he was in Iowa somewhere.
I’ll settle for either Cruz or Trump, but it seems to me that Trump’s still way in the lead.
Cruz against Trump = Hillary and both men are perfectly aware. Both men actually love this country and know how bad Hillary would be.
In the guest house at Kennebunkport?
fivethirtyeight.com's 5-ring diagram fits well here
Funny, I think I posted the same thought today.
From article:
Cruz began the race isolated on the partyâs right flank. Juxtaposed against Trump and Rubio, though, he could position himself roughly in the partyâs center.
I will vote for Cruz in the primary. I will only vote for Trump if he gets the nomination AND if Cruz is his VP. Trump badly needs Cruz’s stabilizing influence. Otherwise, Trump is too ruled by his emotions and ego to be counted on to make solid decisions.
If Cruz goes after Trump its self-destruct. Either Trump will take him down, Cruz will damage Trump, or both will sink in the polls per the MSM goal.
It cannot end well. Trump and Cruz have shown a united front against the establishment, against the media. That front earns them both respect for standing together against the cabal. If Cruz turns on Trump, that all goes out the window.
Rush mentioned that Rubio was on the Kelly file last night.
I have been thinking along these lines for quite some time now.
Trump is too ruled by his emotions and ego to be counted on to make solid decisions

His emotions have so clouded his judgment that he has failed at everything he has done in his business career.
Yah! Right! His judgment is world class. Not only is he dominating in the US but he is now kicking the world media’s ass.
His emotions are just fine!
Trump has caused Cruz to be less politically correct and a bit more brash. Any conservative candidate who adopts speaking the truth without regard to consequences for their remarks will rise in the polls. THE TRUTH IS ALWAYS JUSTIFIABLE!
