Recent polls indicate it may come down to this.
Last week, Quinnipiac reported poll results for Iowa that showed Ted Cruz surging to 23%, only 2 points behind Donald Trump.
The Wall Street Journal reported:
A new Quinnipiac University poll of likely Republican caucus goers showed Mr. Cruz with 23%, behind only New York real estate developer Donald Trump, with 25%. That is more than double Mr. Cruzâs showing of 10% in the universityâs October poll. Mr. Trump gained five points from October....

Excellent observation.
You’ll also note that since then this country has been in a slow spiral downward (well now accelerated) for the same fact you are promoting - style over substance.
In Reagan we had the much older, much wiser, great communicator and global leader. In Cruz we have the younger, more polished, more learned, more decisive global leader.
This is by no means a knock against Trump, I like him for what he is and what he is doing. But we should consider the man and his principles, not the fabric and the jacket vent.
"I remember distinctly an image of - we were sitting on his (Obama's) couches, and I was looking at his pant leg and his perfectly creased pant," Brooks says, "and I'm thinking, a) he's going to be president and b) he'll be a very good president."
David Brooks
Don’t forget Chrissy Mathews and the tingle down the leg. I am not going into conjecture about what went down the leg to cause the tingle. I hope it was poop, but there are two more likely possibilities.
Very funny.
Is there a larger tool on the planet than David Brooks?
Well, I guess there’s a huge pool of commies of leftists to choose from there.
In my heart of hearts, I know Cruz cannot win the nomination. He won’t be able to withstand the media/GOPe/Dem onslaught. They’re going to point out all his enemies in Congress, etc. etc.
On top of that, and I really do like Cruz, he’s my 2nd choice, but he’s not that likable. Granted that shouldn’t be the criteria but we have to face facts,it is for many people.
It will be quite doable for the GOP to knock Cruz out if they’re able to unseat Trump. And going through Trump is the only way Cruz would be on top.
Current results:
TRUMP 39.04% (714 votes)
CRUZ 60.96% (1,115 votes)
Total Votes: 1,829
LOL, "polished", naps?
It's the most comical thing. Since Trump captured so many hearts in such an exquisitely emotional way, I've seen that red-faced, funnel-mouthed, dumpy, hunched old guy lauded as handsome, attractive, and now polished.
It used to be that dumb liberal females were the only ones who looked at ugly politicians through beer goggles and went all crazy over them (Clinton, Gore, Obama, etc). Not anymore, though.
Cruz is a decent man. No one's going to be able to dig up any dirt on him. But you only have to go back a few years to find Trump talking to Howard Stern about premature ejaculation and Paris Hilton's sex tape.
So, yeah. It's pretty clear which one of them is presidential material, and the criteria isn't the cut of the jacket nor the price of the jeans.
Huh?
It refers to a meeting between Trump and Cruz a while back....photos were required....Cruz was casually dressed so Trump lent his one of his suits...about 2 sizes too big.
another prediction for Cruz. Glad you figured it out, Cruz or lose.
I think Cruz is much prettier than Trump. Much better behaved. Trump never presented anything but bankruptcy to a court as opposed to Cruz winning supreme court cases. And of course Cruz has the brain apparently only liberals can admire.
Did you read the part about a GOP campaign, not Cruz, but another showed numbers showing Cruz is dissolving Trump support in Iowa?
Wake up and go read it.
Anyone who thinks otherwise just doesn't know American politics.
He has the hard money, the ground game and the evangelical bona fides.
But Trump runs all states after that.
SEC Primary? All of them?
Yes, I believe so.
March 1st should be a very good day for Trump.
Of course, all delegates will be awarded proportionately for any primary or caucus before March 15th. So one or two others may think they have a shot, and money, and hang on.
TRUMP 41.25% (987 votes)
CRUZ 58.75% (1,406 votes)
Total Votes: 2,393
They may still be. The fact that Bush does not drop out is a hint that the primaries may not matter at all at the convention. Hell, the convention may not matter much other than to be an announcement of the GOPe choice.
Probably needs to have his nails done too....
Thank you for voting!
TRUMP 43.02% (1,201 votes)
CRUZ 56.98% (1,591 votes)
Total Votes: 2,792

With the people's disapproval rate of Congress at 86% (Gallup, Nov. 2015), the media will be helping Cruz.
I agree with everything you said.
