My impression of her is that she’s Palin-esque to a great degree. FWIW...
Unity would be a speaker that 218 Republicans can agree on.
“She is Presbyterian and her church, Christ Presbyterian Church, is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in America. She is a member of The C Street Family, a prayer group that includes members of Congress.”
I am familiar with that church. Marsha belongs to a bible believing church. That is a good sign.
Yes, yes, and yes.
Marsha is anti amnesty and very pro life.
She would be an excellent choice.
Interesting. Thanks to all posters. (What little I know of her, I like)
Her CR score is in the low 70’s around Pat Toomey’s score
Toomey pushed the same kind of ‘10 year plan’ to balance the budget that Ryan pushed. That’s a political trick kind of plan. Toomey also advocated gun control twice in his first term.
ACU scores are higher because they include those ‘show votes’ staged in Congress as described by Ted Cruz in his Senate floor speech the other week.
Votes designed to make a lot of folks like Marsha Blackburn, who supported Boehner for Speaker twice, look conservative to the folks back home.
Better to push folks like Rush Limbaugh, who is so rich he can’t be bought by the lobbyists or Sarah Palin, who’s against cronyism and won’t be bought.
I recommended two nominees in post #28.
Voted YES on prohibiting product misuse lawsuits on gun manufacturers. (Oct 2005)
Voted YES on prohibiting suing gunmakers & sellers for gun misuse. (Apr 2003)
Rated A by the NRA, indicating a pro-gun rights voting record. (Dec 2003)
National cross-state standard for concealed carry. (Jan 2009)
Teach kids Eddie Eagle GunSafe's lifesaving message. (May 2010)
Loosen restrictions on interstate gun purchases. (Oct 2011)
Allow veterans to register unlicensed guns acquired abroad. (Apr 2011)
Require video recording of every firearm test by ATF. (Jan 2011)
Ban gun registration & trigger lock law in Washington DC. (Mar 2007)
Her score for the ACU is inflated by ‘show votes’ and I stand by that. I was not suggesting Blackburn was anti-gun but her CR score indicates some sort of liberalism in her record.
I used items in Toomey’s record to illustrate why his score was lower according to Conservative Review.
Marsha’s items are hidden from my knowledge right now.
The most important thing I know about her is that just like my conservative speechmaking and noisemaking Congressman Scott Perry of PA, Marsha Blackburn supported John Boehner for Speaker twice.
To me, that is the ultimate test of conservatism among House Republicans and 95 percent plus have flunked that one twice in recent years.
Hey, why not look beyond someone’s lack of male genitalia and instead look at her ability to govern and her political beliefs. Men may’ve built this country, but many have been instrumental in orchestrating its downfall.Take a look at the last 4 MALE presidents. Personally, as long as a person is a patriot and is willing to stand up for the right principles, their sex, age, race etc. is irrelevant to me.
Good luck finding someone from that 5% then.
Not enough pics to know for sure...
Then expect business as usual to continue with the continuing decline of this country punctuated by increasing debt and increasing numbers of immigrants.
This business as usual will keep on going until we replace the 95 percent or find a new label for conservatism to be represented by other than “Republican”.
You might want to actually do a little research on Blackburn before you write her off.
She is most definately anti amnesty and strong on illegal immigration.
You could say the same about my congressman whom I obviously know better than anyone else down there. He makes great speeches about “Constitutional Principles”.
But he went ahead and supported Boehner twice the second time making the excuse...”You don’t want Nancy Pelosi as Speaker”.
He even had Boehner up in the district for a fundraiser where John B was the featured attraction.
The key test as I see it is supporting Boehner for Speaker twice. Blackburn failed that test twice.
That may be an abstract number. We need to know what are the ratings for those other candidates for speaker, so we can compare apples with apples.
She is a fiscal conservative! That is a big plus in my book. Because the one thing that is going to make us another Greece is over spending.
The problem is anyone who is rated 100% conservative can not get 218 votes. I know, reality is a beyotch.
