The CW this week is that McCarthys Benghazi gaffe was a gift to Hillary Clinton but its also a gift to House conservatives who are looking for a foothold in electing Boehners successor. You wont convince the centrists in the caucus that McCarthys too squishy to rule but you might convince them that hes a political liability whom the GOP cant risk having as a major spokesman during next years death match with the Clintons. All tea partiers need to mount a challenge is a candidate. Hensarling wont do it, Jordan wont do it, Ryan wont do it. Jason Chaffetz? Hell do it, allegedly.

Chaffetz does not like Boner. That’s a huge plus for him.
It was Chaffetz who told Mark Meadows his committee chair position was being pulled for going against Boehner.
In addition, it was Kevin McCarthy who ordered Chaffetz to pull the committee job.
Is Daniel Webster officially in the running?
Chaffets is definitely not my first choice for Speaker. He has a pretty bad case of Boehner-itis himself. However someone has to challenge McCarthy it sure shouldn’t be just delivered to him because he’s next in line.
Willfully ignorant. The tea-party/conservative/discontents have their candidate, Daniel Webster. And frankly, I am SO looking forward to calling the election between McCarthy and him, the Devil and Daniel Webster.
Well. McCarthy is a RINO, and an idiot RINO at that.
Far better.
My question is.. who in the hell taught McCarthy to talk?
Not heard much in the news about Webster.
If it is 2 against McCarthy, McCarthy wins by splitting the votes. I hope it will be 1 against 1.
I have seen Chaffetz in many congressional hearings. I think he is pretty intelligent and shrewd. Good debater! Huge improvement over Bohner.
Speaker is elected by the whole House and must get a majority. A group larger than the vote difference between the two parties can prevent ANY Speaker being elected by voting for a third or many other candidates. If they make a credible threat in the caucus, they can extract concessions or force a compromise choice.
Hensarling wont do it, Jordan wont do it, Ryan wont do it. Jason Chaffetz

Too bad Hensarling and Jordan won’t, they’d be a huge improvement.
Ryan is a Cheap Labor Express guy, no thanks.
Chaffetz is better than McCarthy, but there are better choices. Nobody seems to want the job.
Don’t really know much about Chaffetz one way or the other, but I would need more to recommend him than his being a good debater.
Gowdy, for example, is great with the fiery rhetoric, but what has he accomplished through his hearings? Issa is another one.
An article earlier today was pushing Justin Amash for a variety of reasons. They sounded pretty good to me.
Chaffetz is better than McCarthy, but there are better choices. Nobody seems to want the job.
Chaffetz is a climber and K Street will be able to buy him. He will be no better than McCarthy in the end.
I don’t trust Chaffetz.
Good. At least he can speak in complete sentences.
Exactly, what good are the better ones who will not run. What are they afraid of? Boehner can’t hold the grudge. He won’t even be in congress at the end of his term.
It is the same thing with Billionaires. No one wants to bother running except Trump. The Koch’s have all that money, but will not give up leadership of money making businesses for 4 to 8 years.
I trust Boehner even less. SO why are the better candidates scared to run for Speaker?
