If you had to vote in your state primary/caucus today, knowing what you know now about the various declared and probable candidates, who would you vote for? Why? Who would you like to see as the running mate for your preferred candidate? If you could help staff your candidates cabinet and other top appointments, who would you choose? If you could recommend different congressional leaders than we have now, who would they be? And who would you like to see on the Supreme Court and why? And finally, feel free to donate to Free Republic.
Trump/Cruz
It’s not that we are weak kneed. I’m just not sure that a “true” conservative like Cruz is electable given the lack of actual education from the public schools for the last 35+ years. It’s a different era since Reagan.
Trump, OTH, seems to have a more widespread “electric” effect which could draw in independents as well as some, if not many democrats.
Today, Trump. Six months - a year from now...we’ll see.
I’m stuck in CA anyway, which historically, hasn’t mattered in primaries for a long time.
Ted Cruz, but I could live with Trump.
Trump. - candidate most likely to actually DO something about illegal aliens.
Bolton UN Ambassador.
TED!
Cruz
If Ted Cruz wants to win the Republican nomination and make so many of us here happy, he should go back to Washington and lead another shutdown of the government.
During the shutdown he should explain day after day in speeches in front of the Capitol building, why the government has become so evil, why Congress has become a mere rubber stamp of the policies of the totalitarian executive in the White House just as all legislatures in totalitarian dictatorship are mere rubber stamps, and he should also lead an effort to remove John Boehner and Mitch McConnell from their roles as House and Senate Rubber Stamp Leaders and return Congressional leadership to Republicans who will carry out Republican principals not the policies of the Democratic dictator in the White House.
Ted Cruz doesn’t have to become president to take action against the current government that Republicans deservedly hate so much. He can take action now, by leading an effort to refuse to rubber stamp another terrible Obama-dictated budget.
Another government shutdown, like the previous one, would not result in essential services being cut. No one would lose a Social Security payment or any other government payment.
But will Ted Cruz take the lead again?
Donald Trump
Ted Cruz for POTUS - that’s the main thing. The answer why is found here:

There are a few people he could pick up as VP, amongst which are Walker, Carson, and Rubio (as long as he keeps Rubio in line on immigration).
Intelligence doesn’t equal common sense. He wants to increase H-1B visas to 500% - that isn’t very intelligent in my book - when it puts Americans out of work and replaces them with foreigners.
Trump for Prez.
Cruz for VP.
Ted Cruz,Ben Carson VP
Your post reminds me of when I commented during the GOP debate: “That isn’t a stage full of candidates - it’s an entire administration!”
Cruz/Trump
Cruz only.
Right I refuse to sign a pledge not to vote 3rd party if Trump is the nominee. Trump supporters should appreciate that position.
Ted Cruz and only Ted Cruz
I don’t think Ted Cruz is a “true conservative” because his immigration views are a bit too liberal and squishy. Not saying he’s not the most conservative of the credible candidates, but he’s not the perfect guy.
Yes. I am sure I will. Besides, it is way too early to call a winner. This is a total hypothetical that doesn’t matter at all except for a bunch of us to have some fun. By the time we vote everything could change.
