The first Republican primary is months away, but in the race to see which GOP candidate could make the most of the legal battle over a Kentucky clerk's refusal to grant same-sex marriage licenses, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee emerged a winner Tuesday, thanks to the efforts of an aide to block 2016 rival Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) from joining Huckabee at Davis' side.
Both presidential candidates were present at the rally at the jail holding Kim Davis, the Rowan County Clerk. But according to a New York Times report of the day's events, a Huckabee aide physically stood in Cruz's path to Davis' side as she and Huckabee appeared in front of the media after her release from jail:
When Senator Cruz exited the jail a throng of journalists beckoned him toward their microphones, but an aide to Mr. Huckabee blocked the path of Mr. Cruz, who appeared incredulous.
Moments later, Mr. Huckabee appeared, joined by Ms. Davis. He stuck close to her side as she approached the reporters, and again when she took the stage, and cast her fight as a choice of tyranny or religious freedom....

Can you tell me what the picture is from?
Cruz cannot catch a break. Tomorrow likely to be more of the same if he is challenged on why he voted to allow Obama approval of just 34 senate vote. Cruz’s bad moves and ineptness (which he is not known for) is very surprising.
The Rev. Al Shapton Huckabee.
Well, Cruz is not one to piss on others .. and although Huck played a dirty trick .. it may have been payback to Cruz.
I’ve heard that Cruz organized the rally against the Iran deal, and he asked Trump to join him - which Trump is planning to do.
However, as was mentioned here on FR, several of the other candidates inquired about joining the group, but nobody asked Cruz (who organized it). So, I guess it’s just going to be Trump and Cruz.
Can you believe how petty the other candidates were to try to get a chance to speak at Cruz’s event, but they never ask Cruz .. they won’t even speak to him ..?? This shows me they are jealous, and/or envious, and Huck’s actions today prove to me how PETTY HE IS. I will never vote for Huck.
Huck announced before hand, too. I do detest the “jail me instead” soliliquy.
Thanks. Glad about that. I admit to be uninformed on the activities today.
It is a public rally.
Anybody can show up, including the Huckster.
:)
“When the Huckster said he would do Kims prison time,
it was a Paul Wellstone Funeral moment.”
That was probably about the time Cruz decided to just watch the circus instead of joining the circus.
Oh stop please! She was released around 1 pm ET and no one had a clue that was going to happen, they were both already there. Cruz had his own press conference arranged up I read early this a.m.
Now the grifter is the who walked her out and had his minions get in his way. So go please yourself. Cruz watched from the crowd. Waiting now for huckster to get the screws put to him.
Sorry but I have never been a huckster fan. Spent way too much, brought a mexican consul to Arkansas for the illegals convenience, pardoned murders who murdered again.
>> I will never vote for Huck.
I’m pretty sure you’ll never get the chance. That’s my prayer, anyhow.
True.
I am not going to research now but I had heart Cruz had a press conference planned for 1 pm but nobody new Davis would be released at that time. Paints a possible picture of the grifter taking the stage as is his nature.
I really hate to say this but I much prefer Cruz’s soft spoken and apparently powerful Christianity, you can’t miss certain people who shine with their faith. They are treasures and lovely to be around.
You’re unhinged my friend-demanding that Cruz (and by implication Huckabee too) only support her in private? Get a life, I take it at face value that they were genuinely in support of her. However the incident mentioned in the headline, if true is not classy on the Huckabee camp’s side..
Huckabee looked completely awkward in the video. While i agree with the legal aspects Kim Davis is fighting for, I do think she is not someone which to hitch a political wagon. In this case, we need to separate the individual from the right or law.
Cruz does seem to shine/glow with his faith. I like that. I don’t think he quite gets the cut-throat deal.
I totally get the “Richard Cranium” reference.... Hehehe
Vote for Huckster then.... You’ll be one of the very few who do though.
