Republican presidential contenders Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and billionaire developer Donald Trump will meet Wednesday at Trump Tower in New York City.
The meeting was confirmed by Republican Party members familiar with each campaign, The Washington Post reports. Aides to both candidates declined to comment on the matter.
This will not be the pair's first meeting, however. Cruz traveled to Trump Tower in November 2013 to seek the businessman's support as he weighed his White House bid.
The first-term senator announced that he was running in March.
Trump has come under fire for remarks about illegal immigration made during his announcement speech last month.
Respondents in the latest USA Today/Suffolk University Poll cited his views in helping to propel him to the top of the list of GOP contenders, with 17 percent. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush followed, with 14 percent.
While Trump has been slammed by opponents ranging from Bush to Florida Sen. Marco Rubio to former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Cruz has steadfastly refused to attack the developer for his comments.
"I like Donald Trump," he told Chuck Todd in a "Meet the Press" interview earlier this month on NBC. "Hes bold, hes brash."(continued)

Bass ackwards. Trump has the CEO and decision making experience to be Prez, while Cruz knows the inner workings of Congress, which is VP territory.
Trump / Cruz would be stronger as Trump as decades of business experience. Cruz brings experience to the mix that would be invaluable. A great team IF that was what they are doing. Definitely better than Walker/Rubio or Bush/Walker or any of the others. Having sucked the air out of the room, Trump is the person of the moment. Will be interesting to see what they do.
Point of the spam?
How do you like being called a “spammer” by a late 2014 sign-on?
“I’ve never understood your lack of support for Cruz Flag Lady.
It’s like you’ll support anyone else, but just not Cruz.
Why is that?”
What the heck are you talking about? Well actually I should say you don’t know what the heck you are talking about. Cruz is my 2nd choice after Trump. I’d love to see a Trump/Cruz ticket, with Trump as Prez, and Cruz being fairly young, after 4 years (I doubt Trump would do more because of his age) then Cruz would be perfectly positioned to be Prez for the next 8 years.
I’ve posted this sentiment of mine on other threads, but you claim to know me better than I do, based on pure ignorance. So can it, you haven’t a clue what you are talking about. Geez.
Together they would be unstoppable. Cruz could give Trump some pointers. They should meet and plan out the next six weeks.
Of interest
Sec. Treasury for Trump or Supreme Court seat for Ted depending on how the wind blows.
Yep - love to be a fly on the wall.
“Reagan and Ford came **this** close to being co-presidents in 1980. Remember?”
I saw that when it happened. That “co-president” thing was one of Walter Cronkite’s dumber off-the-cuff remarks.
The media will have it that Trump will send his clown car to pick him up at the airport.
Cruz/Trump or Trump/Cruz in 2016 will certainly get my vote.
The would easily get the entire South including Texas, the Midwest (maybe not Illinois) I would say the most of the North East including New York. California would probably go to Trump too.
This is easily a winning ticket.
Naturally the Establishment will do everything they can to prevent this from happening.
BTTT
That’s a great quote!
If anything, as a businessman Trump recognizes brilliance when he sees it. Cruz is well established as “the smartest man in the room” and it makes sense that Donald Trump would want to get a measure of the man. The same for Cruz of Trump. I’m very interested in the outcome here.
#34 nailed it.
No he is not kidding.
