Can Ted Cruz break into the top tier?
WPTZ-TV ^ | July 6, 2015 | Theodore Schleifer, CNN

He's got $50 million behind him, a fervent following in Iowa, and a brand that he's worked hard to never muddy, but Ted Cruz has yet to have a breakout moment. Is that about to change?

The Texas senator may remain mired in the middle of the seemingly endless Republican pack, but his allies say he is poised to make his move. Doing just well enough nationally to make the debate stage and showing enough promise in early-primary to have a shot next winter, Cruz and his allies are unperturbed by surveys that show him sitting stagnant.

He is bracketed by social conservatives like Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum, and by Tea Party favorites like Rand Paul and Ben Carson. In order to stand out, Cruz has been willing to step out from the rest of the field.

"He should be capturing the archconservative vote in a way that he's not," said Noah Rothman, a conservative writer for Commentary Magazine, who sees Cruz tacking right for political purposes. "This whole summer could be setting up a Cruz resurrection in the polls."

He has become the most vocal defender of Donald Trump, the flamboyant businessman and presidential candidate who other Republicans have denounced....

” I think Cruz is just playing it smart.”
Unless Trump keeps sucking all the air out of the room every couple of weeks. Then all Cruz can do is watch as Trump pulls away.

Walker won in liberal Wisconsin.

Christians are waking up. They know America is already past the point of no return. 2016 is a referendum on “In God We Trust.”

My analysis is: TED CRUZ wins with a Reaganesque landslide.

Cruz probably is not out to win this time, but to become a known entity so that he can win at some point in the future.

Oh no; Ted Crus knows that if America puts another evil incarnate Liberal in the White House, there will be no “future” for this nation.

You must be prone to dreaming

Trumps ego serves Trump

Cruz is loved here no question but he’s still a long shot

This ain’t 1980

The demographics are upside down

Youth detest social conservatism

Freepers live in a bubble of our own making

Walker probably has a better shot

I prefer Cruz ideologically but it will be very uphill and everyone has to turn out

It’s all just a band aid anyhow

Wake me up when you come back to reality. Cruz won’t even win one state UNLESS Walker decides not to run.

My prediction is WALKER will not run. Too much baggage is coming out on him.

He’s doing a great job in Wisconsin.

I almost donated to his campaign, but they didn’t accept PayPal. That’s the only way I spend money online. Anyone know why it’s not an option?

Use a reloadable bank gift card. Put in just the amount you want to spend, use it, and then it doesn't matter who hacks it. Nothing left to steal. I've been buying this way on line for many years. Never a problem.

Peace,

SR

Well said Wardaddy. I don’t think social issues are going to be a factor in 2016 at least not for most voters.
I believe that’s why the GOP is happy to have Obamacare and gay marriage off the table. I think the confederate flag issue is in that same category.

Cruz has been hovering anywhere from 4-8% in the polls. He hasn’t moved much either way but he’s mostly hung right around 5%.
For a candidate that is supposedly as near perfect as Cruz he doesn’t seem to resonate much with anybody not a Freeper.

You make a great point that it’s not 1980. The states have changed the country has changed and the people have changed.

Youth do detest social conservatism and I don’t think that genie can be put back in the bottle.

Cruz reminds me a lot of Fred Thompson in 2008. I remember how he was going to win in a landslide too.

Thompson lost momentum when it was revealed he didn’t attend church.

Let me wreck the shit out of your plan.Rubio is hated in florida by the very people who put him in office because of his amnesty marriage to chucky shumer. There is also rumors of women troubles for him as well. Walker has his problems with his lib family and their support for fag marriage and most of the south hates that crap. Trump is calling these assholes out and making mincemeat out of them over the illegals. It is resonating with the conservative middle class or what’s left of it.

Republicans stand for nothing but getting elected or reelected

Their main goal in life is to garner media love

This nation is so messed up it will take a catastrophe to turn our direction

We stand for nothing and nobody has the balls to fight back

We are prisoners to minority grievance which is the crux of liberalism today

And they have the numbers

And nearly all the media in far more radical ways than Cronkite could ever envision

And worse.....they own tech and the big Internet orgs as well

Huffpo Huffpo Huffpo

Breitbart and Drudge factor but those who control tech works to exclude them from product....Apple for example

Search engines all lib

I think only war fixes this

“Thompson lost momentum when it was revealed he didn’t attend church.”
Thompson entered the race at about 12% and when he dropped
out after South Carolina he was holding steady at
12%.
Thompson didn’t resonate with more than 12% of the voters. My guess is that Cruz won’t even get that high. Especially since Trump has taken his best issue away from him.
It could easily change but at the moment Trump is who is making the waves and about all Ted can do is stand up and say “Yeah. Me too.”
Ted won’t pull any but the hardcore conservatives and there aren’t enough of them to win a national election anymore.

“Their main goal in life is to garner media love”

This is the only point I disagree with you on.
I don’t think the Gop cares about media love. They care about keeping their coffers full.
They have no problem going along to get along and that IMHO
is why they won’t touch social issues in 2016.
As you say the left has the media, the social media, tech, and the entertainment industry. Social issues are toxic for now.

Trump has made so many promises in the past that he has not kept. I trust Cruz more than I trust Trump. There’s a huge difference between telling people what they want to hear and actually doing what needs to be done.

” I trust Cruz more than I trust Trump. “

Cruz is going to have to get traction with more than 8% of the voters or it isn’t going to matter.
