Presumed 2016 Republican presidential candidate Scott Walker has faced serious backlash over his “flip-flop” on immigration reform and one prominent conservative journalist has gone so far as to refer to the Wisconsin governor’s spin on the issues as “Clinton-esque.”
The Daily Caller’s Matt Lewis wrote on Wednesday:
“This is really a remarkable example of political spin. According to Walker’s definition, you can change your mind as many times as you want — on as many hot-button issues as possible — so long as your past public support didn’t involve casting a vote.
It’s a pretty convenient argument for a Midwestern county executive, turned governor, to make (although, even this deserves an asterisk).”
Lewis was specifically referring to the governor’s interview Tuesday night with Bret Baier of Fox News. During “Special Report with Bret Baier,” Walker said:
“Years ago, when I was asked more than about a decade ago when I was a county official about something and giving a quick momentary reaction to that versus in a comment a few years ago as a governor asking a question about it versus actually looking at this issue and saying what is my policy.
A flip would be someone who voted on something and did something different. … I don’t have any impact on immigration as a governor; I don’t have any impact as a former county official…”
In his comments to Baier, Walker referred to a resolution he signed during his time as Milwaukee county executive in 2006.
The resolution called on Congress to pass a sweeping immigration plan that included a pathway for citizenship for illegal immigrants already in the United States, per The Washington Times. Walker was later asked about that resolution by the Wausau Daily Herald in 2013, telling the paper:
“Sure, yes. I mean, I think it makes sense.”
According to Lewis, Walker tried to issue himself a “get-out-of-jail-free” card on a large number of issues that his opponents who serve in Congress, like Senators Marco Rubio, Rand Paul and Ted Cruz, do not have.
In the last few months, Walker has sought to solidify his position on immigration reform, even telling Glenn Beck that there must be reforms made to the country’s immigration policies for legal immigrants.
If Lewis believed Walker remains pro-amnesty, he wouldn't be criticizing Walker for changing his mind. Lewis appears to think that Walker's conversion is genuine. So do I. That's why Lewis is raising hell about it - he wants Walker to revert to his old pro-amnesty position.

Yikes! What if he doesn’t though? He might actually kick Jeb’s butt. Jeb intends to win this though, so maybe it won’t matter who is really the best debater. You never know.
I’m so glad you agree. I was reading today and I’m sure you saw it, that the energy and the depth of our bench this cycle has noticeably affected the moral of the Republican voters, improving it for 2016 by several points.
The fact that so far we have not split, splintered and spit on one another over these awesome candidates (at least on morals, ethics and virtues) is a Godsend, and keeps the media focused on the nasty play and corruption of Hillary. The contrast is stunning.

I hear you about the learning curves. But when they come on the campaign trail, and are articulated as though the person making them is trying to stammer out an excuse, I’m reluctant to buy them. ;)
I’m wondering if Jeb is even going to announce. He has zero grassroots support. He is now pathetically trying to pander to the Hispanics by having his Mexican wife tweet in Spanish. Weak.
Like Hillary, he has so d@^^ much money invested in his blunder man campaign, can he even afford to back out?
I think probably he is into a forced run at this point, and has to make the best of it— same as Hillary. They can’t exactly QUIT, but they can LOSE, and still live. HA!
