CNN reports that, while speaking to the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, Ted Cruz took a swipe at Mitt Romneys infamous 47 percent remark.
Cruz reframed the conversation, taking the opportunity to connect the remark to the Hispanic vote:
The media repeatedly said the reason Mitt Romney got clobbered in the Hispanic community was because of immigration the data dont bear that out
What the polling data showed is actually Hispanic voters agree with Mitt Romney on a great many issues. Where he got clobbered was cares about somebody like me. Where he got clobbered was the 47 percentyou remember the infamous comment
I think Republicans are and should be the party of the 47 percent.
While Cruz received only 35% of the Hispanic vote in his 2012 Senate race, conservative politicians made some considerable gains in the 2014 mid-terms.
According to Pew Research, Greg Abbott of Texas garnered 44% of the Hispanic vote, and David Perdue of Georgia garnered 42%.
This is significant, given that just two years prior, Mitt Romney received only 27% of the national Hispanic vote.
Ted Cruz may be on to something. Despite Pew reporting that 84% of Hispanic voters say a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants is more important or equally important as securing the border:
When it comes to their vote, half (54%) of Latino registered voters say they would vote for a candidate who disagrees with them on immigration policy if that candidate agrees with them on most other issues.
On Wednesday, Cruz said:
We asked Hispanic voters in Texas what your number one issue is. You know what percent said immigration? Three percent 54 percent said jobs and the economy.
It appears that 2016 will be the laboratory that puts this concept to the test.
well that sucks. I will investigate but I trust you. Just want to get the raw numbers. This is a sad thing. We atill majority but what good does it do with millions of stupid young white people and single white women for SOME reason have an affinity towards the dems, and Asians vote 70-80 percent dem when they are such high achievers.
mine is 140 and never came in handy lol. You put me and Cruz next to each other and you’d think mine was I the low 90s lol
Wow! That’s remarkable! I’ve never had an I.Q. test, but I’m sure I’m a happier person not knowing. LOL
plus didn’t mean to raise your blood pressure :) I always appreciate being corrected by the many smart people on this board. that’s one of the things I love about it.
But, it took three generations of Italian Americans, of which I am, to start hitting college hard. Most of my friends make a bundle as firemen, cops. sanitation, construction, electrician but only now are they saying their kids are going to college. Not all but a bunch. But they are Hardcore conservative.
lol. it’s a worthless thing. i’m incredibly absent minded and lacking in common sense. it’s a trade off I think.
I think Cruz is smarter than the GREAT ONE, but he had other qualities to compensate. God, the eighties were great.
So, in a sense they do speak Mexican. A mix of slang, Spanish and English learned from their communities.
On my phone, but go to cis.org then look up Immigrant Paradox.
permanent victimhood and lack of love of new country are the only things i could come up with.
VERY bad.
I have many friends, (half) that still speak Italian and have family there, but in NO way is their allegiance to anywhere but here.
i don’t get it.
“Why dont we just grant them amnesty right now, then they could cast a vote for Cruz?”
_____________
You’d have a god idea, but if Dems ever thought that the Hispanic vote was going to go GOP, they’d flip on the issue in the blink of an eye!!
Sorry, I think I’ll take Ted Cruz’s info over polling data from Latino Decisions.
Getting 40% is still a losing position.
The Spanish language (and influence) marks much of Central and South American.
Saying someone speaks “Mexican” is akin to Obama’s remark about speaking “Austrian”.
CA....
Ill have to do some research on her.

Thanks for the reference. She sounds most impressive.
Yeah, it’s a sadly very different time.
I gave you the quote from the article used in this thread and the link to the poll. Two sources.
The conservative vote is going to be split among Cruz, Walker, and Carson in the primaries. Paul will take the libertarians and Bush and Rubio will split the Moderate read RINO vote. Christie could help splinter the RINO vote further if he enters. McCain never got more than 30% in the primaries and still won. Hopefully, the conservatives can settle on one candidate to back as early in the process as possible.
