Former New Hampshire GOP Chairman Fergus Cullen is preparing to host a meet-and-greet at his Granite State home for former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush but said firebrand Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz represents everything that is wrong with the Republican Party.
Ted Cruz is someone who will not darken our doorstep ... He doesnt seem to be very interested in campaigning to all of Americans but only seems to be interested in appealing to a fringe, Cullen said during an appearance this morning on Boston Herald Radios Morning Meeting program. I think he has been irresponsible in Washington and I think he is sort of everything that is wrong with the Republican Party in Washington these days so hes not welcome. Cruz is due in New Hampshire for campaign events on Sunday.
When pushed by hosts Jaclyn Cashman and Hillary Chabot to elaborate on why Cruz was among the 2016 presidential hopefuls who wouldnt be invited to schmooze voters at his home, Cullen said Ive got no patience for his approach to politics.
Politics is a team sport and No. 1 you have to be able to get along with your teammates and Ted Cruz clearly does not play well with others and is proud of that, Cullen said. If you just want to be a bomb-thrower, be a bomb-thrower but if youre running for office and youre serving in the United States Senate, I expect you to want to actually get things done and not just to be going from cable TV news appearance to speaking engagements across the country to rile people up without actually trying to do anything.
Cruz went up against members of his own party to spearhead the government shutdown in 2013, making him an instant Tea Party darling but also a symbol of Washington gridlock and a magnet for the ire of congressional leadership.
Cullen said Bushs planned appearance is an indicator that he is going to take a different approach to wooing New Hampshire voters than his brother, former President George W. Bush.
Obviously Gov. Bush comes into this process with a famous name but he doesnt have personal relationships with elected officials, with party leaders, with activists and so part of what theyre clearly signaling is the kind of campaign he is going to run I think will be different from (the one) that his brother ran, Cullen said. It was much more of a coronation when George W. Bush ran, it was characterized by big events with a thousand people he did not do many house parties at all, he did one town hall meeting and people didnt appreciate that, and thats part of why John McCain was able to defeat George W. Bush in New Hampshire and do so handily back in 2000.
Getting face time with Granite State voters will go a long way toward launching Jeb Bushs presumed run for the Oval Office, Cullen said.
Hes made it clear, I think, in his early going that he is his own person, Cullen said, that he has his own record that he is going to be running in a different style than other Bushes people are familiar with.
Odious Team Romney CONTINUES its Palinization of Sen. Cruz
and any other conservative who does not bow
to Obola and Soros.
The first two states are Obama +6 in 2012.
So we’re letting the Dems have an outsized influence.
NH is a suburb of Boston and is truer than blue.
I often wonder of some of these so-called GOP leaders are actually Dem Manchurian plants!
Nor will I.
Ever.
Obviously Cullen hasn’t been listening to what Cruz is saying. Or maybe he doesn’t like constitutionalists.
There is very little likely hood that Bush wins the nomination and even less that he wins the Presidency.
Fergus Cullen has demonstrated without any ambiguity that he unfit for his office. Who does he think he is to pass judgement on fellow Republicans? Hes a party hack, an apparatchik, a functionary, a go-fer, only fit to organize mass mailings.
As a spokesman he ought to keep his pie hole closed.
So much for the slogan of New Hampshire: “Live free or die”.
This is no longer Meldrim Thompson o rGordon Humphreys New Hampshire GOP.
Time was when the citizens of NH had a strong desire to Live Free.
Like many other fine locations, it has obviously absorbed Democrats...sadly.
I’ll write in Ted Cruz..otherwise I’m totally done with the GOP.
Politics is a team sport and No. 1 you have to be able to get along with your teammates and Ted Cruz clearly does not play well with others and is proud of that, Cullen said.
notice the hypocrisy...Cullen calls for unity while trashing Cruz.
I’ll happily vote 3rd party if any leftwing Republican gets the GOP presidential nomination just to stick it to this p.o.s. who wants to turn the GOP into a Dem lite party.
Did I miss something, or is he Not trashing any Dems....
“Third time’s a charm”
*** ducking ***
If God prefers Ted Cruz to be our next president, no measly former GOPe Chairman is going to interrupt His plan.
