Sen. Kelly Ayotte returned home to New Hampshire Friday, planning to see The Nutcracker with her daughter this weekend.
But there was an unexpected conflict: Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.
Cruz, along with Utah Sen. Mike Lee, took to the floor Friday night to demand Republicans stop President Barack Obamas executive action on immigration and scuttled a bipartisan agreement to push back votes until Monday, effectively forcing the Senate to return for a rare weekend session and cast a marathon series of procedural votes.
Senior Republicans say theres a problem with Cruzs strategy: The GOP lacks the votes to stop Obama on immigration now, the $1.1 trillion spending package was speeding to passage, and they wont resort to shutting down the government to mount their objections. Plus, the weekend session could allow Obama to get even more of his nominees confirmed.
So while Cruz and Lee argue theyre taking a hard stand against Obama, the result might allow Democrats to end the year with more of their priorities advanced and the two conservatives getting nothing.
I think this is ridiculous, Ayotte said in an interview....

Yo Kelly! Netflix!
Oh, poor poor Kelly. There there.
Some of us out here outside the beltway can’t afford to see shows, and don’t get extended holiday breaks. To us, your bitching sounds like a Bel Air teen whining because her parents gave her the wrong color Mercedes for her birthday.
To think this twit was once a tea party darling. She sipped the GOPe koolaid as soon as McCain handed it to her.
I hope every one of them miss the entire holiday. I really don’t care if they go home or not. The fate of the future of our country is more important than their plans.
Every nurse dr and other holiday worker is there because they need to be.
Welcome to the working world legislators.
As to Ayotte:

“Senior Republicans say theres a problem with Cruzs strategy: The GOP lacks the votes to stop Obama on immigration now, the $1.1 trillion spending package was speeding to passage, and they wont resort to shutting down the government to mount their objections. Plus, the weekend session could allow Obama to get even more of his nominees confirmed.”
So, how can the Republicans stop Obamas picks for the court? Fact is, Obama is getting his nominees regardless. Cruz wants everyone on record. Why are people afraid?
The GOPe “Vichy Republicans” don’t want to be on the record, that’s the point.
“To think this twit was once a tea party darling. She sipped the GOPe koolaid as soon as McCain handed it to her.”
Exactly. The minute she hitched her wagon to the McLindsey jackass crew, it was over for her.
I would love to defund the immigration order. I just dont know how were ever going to do that if the president is going to veto it, Rubio said in an interview earlier this week. It doesnt mean we shouldnt try, if theres a way to do it, I would support it. But I think we have to be realistic because the president will veto it.
That's why you make defunding the immigration EO part of the spending bill. Cruz is the only Republican willing to fight with the enemy. The rest seem mostly inclined to cowering in their fox holes. We will remember your cowardice you pusillanimous poltroons.
Yeah, this female McCain clone ain’t no Mama Grizzly. She is a Ghastly Goober.
Cruz does not kiss butt. I love the guy. He will join millions of us in a third party.
She should have gone back to NH for the show. No one would have missed the nutcracker.
No longer active in NE apparently.
Do it, GOP-E! I dare you to do it!
If they don’t set a position on principle NOW they will have a helluva time doing it later when they “have the votes.” The trouble is the “leaders” or rather “enforcers” won’t stand on anything like principle later or ever. Their principle is getting a piece of the Corruption Pie.
