Doug Butzier, Libertarian Party candidate running against Bruce Braley and Joni Ernst for U.S. Senate, lost his life yesterday in a plane crash.
The wife of Doug Butzier confirmed Tuesday morning to KCRG-TV that it was Butzier who was killed in a plane crash Monday.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Lynn Lunsford said the Piper PA-46 crashed around 11 p.m. Monday on approach to the airport, about a mile north of the runway.
Lunsford said law enforcement told him the sole occupant of the aircraft was killed in the crash. Lunsford said the plane took off from Ankeny Regional Airport about an hour before the crash....

RIP
Air travel was a mess yesterday and this morning due to weather.
Dang. Prayers for his family. RIP
I know it's not the time for politics, but I hope his supporters will honor him by using their votes for Joni Ernst rather than to split the ballot in his memory and put a liberal in office.
Reminded of conservative Obenshain dying in a plane crash in 1978, which led to retarded John Warner and his RINO machine dominating the VA GOP to this day.
Taking my anti-conspiracy meds and washing them down with beer ...
pa-46, large single engine plane. early models had reciprocating engine and later models had turbo prop.
He was a Dr. and I had a boss, flight instructor, 50 years ago that told me there were two types of people that generally made bad pilots. Doctors and lawyers, both thinking they were smarter and knew better than the flight instructor that may have only had a high school diploma.
Bad weather, Dr. pilot that has “gotta get there” mentality makes for bent airplanes and widows.
That is interesting.
Last night I was on a flight that made it all the way to the intended destination with wheels down and about to land. Then the wheels went up, back up in the air we went, and back to our original departure city. All due to fog.
Since I had nothing else to occupy my mind I spent a while wondering who made the decision not to land....the pilot, the tower, or the corporate lawyers?
The pilot did, he was in command and was the one making the decisions. Airports being below minimum visibility are never “closed” and cannot refuse landings unless there is an emergency on the field or extremely severe weather such as blizzards with deep snow.
I was hoping it was the pilot. LOL
JFK Jr. piloted a Piper plane that also crashed several years ago.
RIP Doctor. May God welcome you with open arms into paradise. Prayers for the family that they may be comforted.
