A few weeks after the national Republican Party moved in to revamp the campaign and begin an ad blitz aimed at saving incumbent Sen. Pat Roberts' job, a new poll shows him facing more of an uphill battle than ever against independent businessman Greg Orman.

In Kansas’ Senate race, you have the establishement Republican down by a whopping 10%, so the GOPe is investing cash for the win:

Kansas Senate - Roberts vs. Orman NBC News/Marist* Orman 48, Roberts 38 Orman +10

In Michgan’s Senate race, you have the conservative challenger down by only 5%, so the GOPe is hanging HER out to dry:

Michigan Senate - Land vs. Peters CBS News/NYT/YouGov Peters 46, Land 41 Peters +5

Is it sexism? Is it plutocrat incumbency protection? Or does the GOPe just hate conservatives?

Very good point, Uncle Miltie..

GOPe always and I mean always backs the most senior, which in other words means oldest, candidates. And they all happen to be white in senate races. My problem is not that they are white, but how about supporting younger politicians with lots of fresh energy, white or non-white? Roberts is a fine conservative but he can’t even travel weekly from DC to his home state. Time to retire with grace!!

Like you said, why the heck they are wasting money on Roberts who is 10 points behind (which means Orman is 26% higher) ?

In Michigan they have a younger candidate only 5% down. But GOPe is letting him hang to dry?

Amazing...just amazing!

STOP NOMINATING OVER THE HILL, LACK OF ENERGY CANDIDATES!!!

Roberts is complacent, he isn’t a force in the Senate after all these years, he’s a yes man, who spends more time in DC than he does in Kansas.

Roberts is a solid conservative voter in the Senate, who has voted against Obama's Supreme Court nominations. He has a nearly 90% lifetime ACU rating.

So you want him replaced by a democrat pretending to be an independent, who has said he voted for Obama in 2008. You will be replacing a reliable conservative vote with a reliable liberal vote. The "independent" has said he will caucus with the party who has a majority. It has come to light, as of today, that the "independent" has also said that if the party he caucuses with isn't doing anything (which he will define), he will switch parties. This gives the "independent" the excuse he needs to switch to the democrats, which he is one. He has run for office previously as a democrat. He is not an independent.

You are nothing but an appeaser for the democrats and I have come to conclude a troll, probably a paid troll that logs onto multiple sites pretending to be conservative but you are not.

If you want the "independent" to win, you are a liberal because that is how the independent will vote. Roberts is a solid conservative vote. There is no way a true conservative would want to replace a solid conservative vote with a liberal vote.

You really expect the "independent", if he wins, to be a conservative "force" in the senate? LOL. How can the "independent" be a conservative force in the senate when he is a liberal, who has previously run as a democrat and refuses to let any voter know what he believes about anything?

There is no way a true conservative would ever want the "independent" to win. Only someone faking being a conservative would advocate for the "independent".

You think Roberts is a yes man, who is a solid conservative voter in the senate. What do you think the liberal "independent" is going to do if he wins. Yes, listen to Harry Reid, is what he is going to do.

Please name me ONE candidate pushed by GOPe who does not fit that bill!

Dole? McCain? McConnell? Romney? McCain? Lugar? Roberts?

What is common among all above losers of elections?
OK Roberts has not lost yet but he is 10 points behind.

I really don’t care what race they are, but can we have some fresh energy only younger candidates can generate? GOPe obviously believes seniority trumps everything.

In the words of Major Garrett: ‘We’re Screwed’

Frank Luntz, on Fox News, says the whole damn race to take over the senate hinges on Kansas, my state. If it goes to the bad guys then consider the senate to remain Democrat.

You are Clueless.... I am a Conservative and Boehner is not, and anyone who supports Boehner is a RINO.

Why do you think Congress has a lousy approval rating ? Duhh

Roberts is part of the problem, and change is good, the GOP put up McCain and Romney and both are losers.

The GOP party is Over, losers go home.

I think people in Roberts age bracket should do a graceful exit. When you are too old to travel back and forth from Kansas to DC, and take up residence in DC, you are more than ready to retire.

Selfishness and ego are never good traits in our leaders. I hope Roberts wins this election. If he loses, the entire blame rests on his shoulders.

No, you are clueless. We have been writing about Roberts and you change the subject to Boehner?

You are aware that Roberts is a senator. And Boehner is in the House, which means Roberts has no say in what happens in the House.

So back to Roberts. He is one of the most reliable conservative votes in the Senate (not the House). His lifetime ACU rating is one of the highest. If someone votes for the "independent", who is not an independent, but a democrat, then they are voting to oust one of the most conservative senators in the senate (not the House).

Any race is fine, man or woman is fine, any age is fine.

Problem is, I’m looking for one that doesn’t automatically do what our financial elites tell them to, like good a little minion.

Can’t find any.
