A few weeks after the national Republican Party moved in to revamp the campaign and begin an ad blitz aimed at saving incumbent Sen. Pat Roberts' job, a new poll shows him facing more of an uphill battle than ever against independent businessman Greg Orman.

And I agree....but that was a while back. Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln etc. were great men.
However look at more recent period. What do you see common in these losers of elections? Dole, McCain, Romney, Mourdock, Allen, Akin, Buck, etc?
Yap, all over 60, all are white, all making senile statements in the campaign, can not win majority of young voters. One of the reasons Obama won because he was young and appeared to be energetic, although he is basically lazy.
Look at so many winners in House races. Most are under 60.
Just my honest opinion.
Thank you for a substantive and informative post.
Extreme ridiculousness:
Digging up Bob Dole to endorse Pat Roberts!
I am not in any shape or form against Roberts or his voting record.
My only point is there comes a time when after many years in elected positions, people need to move on and make way for fresh energy. Roberts can not even withstand the rigors of weekly travel from Kansas to DC. He practically lives in DC.
I am all for term limits, for that matter. This country was formed to be run by everyday working people and who then move on after a few years in government. These lifetime politicians are not good for our country.
I have to say you disgust me.
LOOK IT UP, IGNORANT FOOL.
Aha..you are going against the generally held belief here that GOPe is omnipotent and can anoint any candidate they wish.
Me on the other hand believes the voters in primaries are far more powerful than GOPe.
As for Roberts, I am rooting for him over Orman.
My whole point is Roberts is behind in polls because he is too old to travel back and forth from Kansas every week. Orman is exploiting this situation apparently with success. Roberts should have retired at the end of his last term. However that is water under the bridge. He is now the GOP nominee and best luck to him.
How am I a bigot when I root for every younger, energetic, fresh energy Tea-Party candidate? I love the young looks of the photo of newly elected GOP House reps. Almost all are white.
I think GOP needs to get away from nominating the same old candidates after many terms in congress simply because they have seniority.
Old white men built and fought for an America that young white men and women are helping illegals rip apart. Just a reality check.
You are not only a bigot but a racist. Well, tell the voters. The voters should be able to vote for whom they want. If the person wants to run, he should be able to do so and the voters can choose to vote for that candidate or someone else.
We don’t have term limits now. So, at this point I want as many conservatives serving as long as they possibly can. If he were still alive, I’d take an 80 year old Jesse Helms over almost any young whippersnapper.
I have absolutely no doubt that the Leftists would rather have a demented old broken down Lefty white guy than a fresh new conservative. In fact, the Leftists do have such a guy and his name is Harry Reid. And I’ll bet that your fresh new energetic guy who can withstand the rigors of frequent flights will vote for the demented old white guy aka Harry Reid.
But many of the old folks keep losing! Roberts does us absolutely no good if he loses the election to a liberal.
You are entitled to your opinion.
Are you calling my relatives in Kansas ignorant fools ?
It’s not nice to support an incumbent lately, they are non performers for Kansas.
That was then this is now. How are you going to feel if Roberts loses because his opponent is exploiting his old age? Losing election is absolutely the Pitts.
Roberts is a dependable conservative vote.
I am also not a denier of facts. Establishment Republicans have always been here and will always be here, it's just a fact. McConnell, who gives me the creeps, will nonetheless win his race. McConnell is not going to lose in a conservative coal state in a year that one-third of all voters will be voting against Obama. Especially after today's revelations catching Grimes' staff on tape talking about Grimes having to say she supports coal, but when she gets into office she will work against coal. McConnell will easily win Kentucky. Cochran will easily win Mississippi. Is it fair? No, I don't think so, but we all know life isn't fair.
There are Cruz' and the Mike Lee's, but unfortunately most politicians are insecure and will do as told by the leadership. So when Cantor lost his primary and resigned from the House, who did the rank and file vote for his replacement: a tried and true moderate Republican establishment from California - conservatives voted for him, too.
So you see, establishment republicans are not in danger at all. I'm just pointing out facts.
Well, yes I am if they fit the description. Roberts is a solid conservative....look it up.
