The Coming Democratic Midterm Collapse
The Daily Beast ^ | August 2, 2014 | Jeff Greenfield

History tells us the “six-year itch” is a very real thing, and there’s little Obama’s Democrats can do to stave off a big loss this November.

Time has been cruel to many once-revered political assertions. No, all politics is not local. No, the road to the White House does not lead through New Hampshire. The “solid South” hasn’t been a solid Democratic redoubt since 1944; “rock ribbed Republican” New England has yielded a grand total of four electoral votes for the GOP in the last six Presidential elections. If you’re looking for a truism that remains true, then reach out and grasp this one: the “six year curse.” With one (highly instructive) exception, the party that holds the White House will lose Congressional seats in the six-year midterms. It happened to Teddy Roosevelt and Franklin Roosevelt; it happened to Ike and LBJ and Reagan. It will almost surely happen to Barack Obama this November. Why? There is no single reason; there are, rather, different forces, any one of which can afflict the party that’s held the White House for six years. What makes this November so daunting for Democrats is that almost all of them are at work this time....

This change must have happened rather quickly. When - and why?

Not so sure...I travel around the country on my job and there are tons of minorities everywhere it seems. Remember the predictions that Romney was going to win fairly big?
If the DemoRats hang onto the Senate it won’t be a big surprise. Morons vote and there are a lot of them unfortunately.

“As long as Obama has a pen and phone, and gets to use them at will, Congress is redundant for the most part.”

And he will continue to rule unless the Senate has the votes to convict. That ain’t gonna happen. Two very bad years coming up. Veto city.

The GOPe will pick up 3-4 Sin-ate seats. They aren’t interested in winning.

The sad part is we have only the GOP to replace them.

That is the sad reality.

If we HOLD TOUGH on Amnesty, we WIN BIG. If not, we’ll be lucky not to lose ground.

That is the ONLY issue that can hurt us at this point.

While it may be good that the Democrat party loses, I have to ask:
Is there any functional difference if the losses are picked up by the Republican party?

I'm going to have to say no — I say this because of the reaction (or lack thereof) by the Republican party [as a whole] regarding things like the Fast & Furious incident , the NSA's domestic espionage, the IRS's political targeting, or any number of things.

If that's true, look for the GOP to double-down on it.
After all they did push Romney, the only man who could lose to Obama.

...but last week ended well. Boener could have had the Dems carry the day by forcing a vote on that crappy bill, but he chose not to and instead let Cruz run the show.

Maybe something good will come out of it.

We have so much debt that we’re going to pay a heavy price one way or the other.

But, if this country is going to burn, I’d rather it burn with us fighting for it than just roll over and let Fool Sucka play Nero.

Except, insofar as I know, Art 4 Sec 4 didn't come up in those talks.
As my default position is now cynicism, I regard it a mostly kabuki.

Maybe something good will come out of it.

I hope so; but I doubt it will.

“or even 110% for The 0ne.”

yes but so did the one precinct in Philly that voted 118% for Clinton’s last election.

Don’t know if you noticed how quickly after the Obama presidential wins that some offices or independent groups or another came forth to say there was NO fraud at all.

Same old, same old and nothing will ever change. And the left has no compunction to feel bad if their people win due to fraud.

“I will not support those who are a weak echo of the Democrats.”

Then you will end up electing Democrats. You may as well just vote straight Democrat then. The result will be the same.
