The Coming Democratic Midterm Collapse
The Daily Beast ^ | August 2, 2014 | Jeff Greenfield

History tells us the “six-year itch” is a very real thing, and there’s little Obama’s Democrats can do to stave off a big loss this November.

Time has been cruel to many once-revered political assertions. No, all politics is not local. No, the road to the White House does not lead through New Hampshire. The “solid South” hasn’t been a solid Democratic redoubt since 1944; “rock ribbed Republican” New England has yielded a grand total of four electoral votes for the GOP in the last six Presidential elections. If you’re looking for a truism that remains true, then reach out and grasp this one: the “six year curse.” With one (highly instructive) exception, the party that holds the White House will lose Congressional seats in the six-year midterms. It happened to Teddy Roosevelt and Franklin Roosevelt; it happened to Ike and LBJ and Reagan. It will almost surely happen to Barack Obama this November. Why? There is no single reason; there are, rather, different forces, any one of which can afflict the party that’s held the White House for six years. What makes this November so daunting for Democrats is that almost all of them are at work this time....

As does the GOPe’s propensity for yanking defeat from the jaws of victory.

One can only hope this will be the outcome. Just keep John (Maverick) McCain, Lindsay Graham, Mitch McConnell and John (boo-hoo)Boehner away from the controls. You just know they will try to ‘save’ the Dems from themselves just to get a proverbial ‘star on their forehead’ from the media. The Old Guard simply will not learn and must be gently escorted to the sidelines asap.

The sad part is we have only the GOP to replace them.

If this happens, their first and only priority will be a huge amnesty package. They onslaught to get it passed by the GOP will be extraordinary.

The way things are going somehow a US Senator is the de facto Speaker of the House and a housewife in a distant state nearly totally controls the agenda of both parties with tweets and Facebook posts. If you submitted this as the plot of a political novel, you'd be laughed out of the publisher's office or thrown out by security.

I think everything written is accurate. However, I believe even Obama’s supporters know he is destroying the entire country. They may not vote at all. It is going to come down to specific states where people still support incumbents for their seniority and name recognition. Perfect example is Al Franken. This moron has done nothing. The people of his state couldn’t care less. He is still in the lead and has the added vote fraud factor. I NJ Booker is a shoe in. They could run anyone with a D in NJ and win.

As long as Obama has a pen and phone, and gets to use them at will, Congress is redundant for the most part.

Ahh yes, my good friends, sister Sarah and brother Ted. Long may they talk! Rep. Peter King (GOP) is baffled and flustered as to why Cruz gets so much respect and deference, when Cruz is somewhat new to the political scene, unlike King.

Obama has Google’s Civitas database for GOTV, electioneering, and selective voter suppression. IRS, EPA, OSHA, DHS and for all I know the Forestry Service all actively participated in the last election. The MSM was openly and very actively working to cover up any information about 0bama and act as a propaganda conduit for The Party. We will have about a half-million new illegal voters shipped primarily to Red states (Blue governors are refusing them loudly). There were allegedly several precincts that voted 100% or even 110% for The 0ne.

It’s a little early to count those chickens.

The Donkeys may, and most likely will get fewer votes but I dont see them loosing as many elections as people think, Given the fact that the GOP has given absolutely no reason to vote for them, and I wont, The vote will be split between libertarians, others or none of the above ( write in) votes.

The only thing the GOP has assured people is they dont like americans anymore than the dems do but they love the shit out of the Chamber of Corny Capitolism

If the Republican Party were an organization that offered leadership and expressed the convictions of its base, which is Conservative, I would take comfort in this old saw.

With the accomodationists now in the "leadership" of the GOP, I cannot.

If they would step back and recall what We The People, who form their base stand for, and stand with us rather than as a pale imitation of the democrats, then I will support them.

I will support Conservative candidates with my dollars and votes. I will not support those who are a weak echo of the Democrats.

I often consider the GOP winning the Senate and keeping the House. However, I’m certain with this President and the current GOP leadership this election outcome will NOT correct the negative trajectory on which this country travels. In fact, it just as likely will worsen it.
