Chris McDaniel, almost the next Ted Cruz, risks political ruin (For not conceding)

Chris McDaniel, the tea partyer who nearly beat Sen. Thad Cochran in Tuesday's Mississippi primary runoff, still hasn't conceded. Analysts say he's damaging his future.

Chris McDaniel came within a few thousand votes of being the next Ted Cruz.

Now, two days after his stunning loss in Mississippi’s high-stakes GOP Senate runoff, Mr. McDaniel risks ruining a potentially bright political future, say both Mississippi and national political observers.

The charismatic, tea party-backed state senator, who took on six-term Sen. Thad Cochran in the marquee primary of 2014, has still refused to concede the race, claiming “voter irregularities.” Thursday afternoon, McDaniel’s campaign called on the state Republican chairman to direct circuit clerks to “cooperate with McDaniel volunteers seeking election data.”

Mississippi election officials have said that the vote went smoothly.

“McDaniel was understandably shell-shocked Tuesday,” writes Sam Hall in the Jackson (Miss.) Clarion Ledger. “His non-concession speech was red meat for his supporters, but it played poorly on the national scene where most were quickly agreeing that this election was over.”

That included groups such as FreedomWorks and the Senate Conservatives Fund. By Wednesday morning, even Senator Cruz, the conservative Texas firebrand, had congratulated “my colleague Thad.”

“As a student of history, I can say that when one goes out a gentleman or a lady, there is a residue of goodwill and they live to fight another day,” says John Gizzi, chief political correspondent of the conservative website Newsmax. “I fear that unless he comes out and embraces Thad by the weekend, Chris McDaniel will not get another opportunity."(continued)

McDaniel CAN run for governor before 2018 and take away Haley Boss Hogg Barbour's hand-picked stooge of a governor and then take a Senate seat at leisure. Then plot Hack #2's (Wicker) demise along with that of whatever hack may be appointed to Thad Cockroach's seat when Cockroach is packed away in a nursing home unable to remember how to tie his shoes.

Establishment Republicans workin' on the chain gang for a few decades in Mississippi sounds like a plan. Especially so if Boss Hogg is among them and unavailable to sell them pardons.

So, Republicans collude with Democrats to damage the future of a candidate who won the majority of the Republican vote, both in the primary and in the runoff election, there is clear evidence of illegality and more than just an indication of fraud, but those same Republicans warn said candidate to shut up and take it because it will damage his future?

They can damage his future by intentionally throwing the vote with Democrats and it’s good, but he’s damaging his future by noticing this and attempting to do something about it, which is bad.

Do I have that about right?

Gee, if you are so concerned about Willie Horton, maybe you can get your polo club pals to nominate ol’ Willie the Rapist/Murderer to high office. After all, it’s just sporting and all that to make up for the awful TRUE ads about Willie and the royal treatment he received from Snoopy in the tank Mike Dukakis. Do I remember correctly that the ad in question was one that made even Poppy Bush seem acceptable to ordinary folks?

Remember Mississippi!

If there was ever a battle cry to begin turning this mess around, that's it.

What, pray tell was wrong with the Willie Horton ad?

Dukakis had a program giving furloughs to convicted murderers and rapists. One of those prisoners out for a prison recess, took off, fled to another state, broke into a home, raped a woman while the husband was tied up. Worse even was done.

I do not understand your insinuation at all.

Filibuster-proof majority???? What are you smoking? The filibuster is dead unless the ever spaghetti-spined GOP Ruling Class would like to restore it for Harry Reid's convenience in blocking those, well just embarrassing GOP base efforts to restore the Republic for reasons other than Muffie's trust fund. If Obozo names Barbara Boxer or Al Franken or Howard Dean or Charles Manson to the Supreme Court, the GOP Elite will mumble their collective support because, after all, Obozo gets to name his appointees. All that is jeopardized is babies, guns, marriage, the actual future of the Republic and other things that no self-respecting snob would be caught dead caring about.

If Childers were elected and behaved no better than Cockroach, then Childers will be the very last Demonrat ever elected to the Senate from Dixie. BUT.... Childers is reportedly pro-life, pro-gun and anti-Obozocare which are three more issues than you can trust Cockroach or other GOP-Elites on. You can trust the GOP-E to protect polo as an endangered sport, however, if THAT is what you really care about!

It is long past time for conservatives to file for divorce from Chatsworth Worthington XXXII and the guys and gals down at the US Chambers of Crony Commerce. Muffie and her trust fund can go straight to hell.

Almost all of the prisoners in the ‘Willie Horton revolving door ad” were Caucasian. Willie Horton was black.

Yours is a great tagline.

We are going to strangle these bastards with the entrails of their phony voters.

So, it’s a “stunning” loss which tells me this author was surprised it happened yet it’ll ruin McDaniel if he looks for and finds voter fraud.

Yeah, sure, whatever

I have a feeling that the “smug” will be wiped off the pundits’ faces come November when all the carefully laid treachery backfires and Cochran loses the seat to the Dim challenger....They think Conservatives are similar to Dimowits and really want to be steered astray.

They’ve already said restoring the filibuster would be one of their first acts as majority. I don’t have the quote at my fingertips but I could find it if need be.

As for blocking Obama’s judicial picks—agree with you 100%. If they didn’t utter a peep over the unqualified moonbat leftists Sotomayor & Kagan, they’re not going to block anybody. It’s not their ‘style’.

It does no good to take the senate majority with senators like Thad and Lindsey. Better to wait two more years for senate majority while those seats are occupied by people who will be less effective at destroying conservatives and the country.

McDaniels should have a chat with Tom McClintock of CA. He has been a target of “fellow Republicans” since they tried to bully him out of running against Ahnold. His party colluded with Dems against him when he then ran and won CA’s 4th congressional district.
It’s not easy being a conservative among this group of GOP thugs!

If you’re talking about GW; yes, I do know - TED CRUZ

And .. when I found that out (Ted was Solicitor General of TX) I totally understood why the dems hated Ted so much. I read about Ted in the Limbaugh Letter.

Can’t think of the guy’s name right off-hand, but there is a very famous DEM lawyer who says Ted is the brightest mind in law today. Plus Ted has the strongest spine I have witnessed in years.

This is why he’s my choice for President in 2016.

Mississippi law doesn’t allow it, from what I’m reading.

Maybe it's time to challenge the constitutionality of "sore loser" laws.

I think you summed it up pretty well. It is one of those "Shut up and get in line, boy, or things will go rough on you." moments.

I think he is right to fight this, and anyone who has indications of widespread irregularities in an election should want things opened up and examined.

Someone who won't back down when the pressure is on is the kind of person an awful lot of Conservatives want in DC about now.

At least part of America wants Conservatives on the Hill, complete with spines.
