Gay conservative group GOProud closing its doors

The current leadership sounds hopeful about continuing the organization under a different name with a different mission, but, as the Advocate explains, that's probably unrealistic.

Bilerico reporter Andrew Markle initially reported that GOProud was shuttering on Sunday, and following initial denials on social media from members of the group, key organizers confirmed to Bilerico founder Bil Browning Monday that the group is indeed planning to close up shop. 

GOProud executive director Matthew Bechstein told Browning that the mixed messages were an attempt to calm members and stave off any problems with fundraising efforts. 

Nevertheless, "We're leaving GOProud behind and re-branding the chapters," Bechstein told Bilerico. 

"The fact is, in order to continue promoting the conservative principles upon which this organization was founded, change is needed," Bechstein wrote in an email to Bilerico. "One of the changes under discussion is a switch to a different legal type of organization — basic paperwork that requires dissolution and immediate subsequent reorganization. Technically, as some argue, this would be a legal closure. … But if it were to actually happen, it would only be momentary and certainly not the end of our organization."

Sorry, but just putting sprinkles on a turd doesn’t change the taste.

These people can be as gay as they wanna be — But those of us in the conservative party don’t want to know about what Adam does to Steve’s butt and all the vile, filthy, disgusting other things that they do to each other, eeeewwwwww.

If what they do to each other was so GD normal then really, wouldn’t everyone want to do it.

And I’m not homophobic — I simply think that what they do is disgusting and nature has created consequences for their behavior and they don’t like it and they can’t run away from it...nature, not man is screaming at these people that what they are doing is wrong and they want to accuse those of us willing to point it out that we are somehow homophobic. Sorry, but you can’t fool mother nature.

I call them gays that support some conservative issues.

Being Conservative s a political/personal philosophy that one adopts. Conservatism does not change it’s core structure to accommodate people that share some of it’s goal/pillars and oppose others.

If you like Motorcycles, it is a choice to what you ride. If you buy a Yamaha, why should you think the H.O.G. would have you?

The whole purpose of the organization was to infiltrate, undermine and weaken conservative groups. The founders hated conservatives and traditional values. They wanted to raise money and create controversy. They wanted to confront and embarrass honest conservatives.

Once they found their phony tactics were not working they went to the media and played the victim role.

Then they denounced conservatives and proudly announced to the world(gee, what a surprise) that they were Democrats.

What is conservatism? It’s more than issues. It’s a recognition that our rights are given by God, the constitution communicates that, and safeguards those rights from tyrants. If you don’t understand that relationships built around sodomy are a violation of God’s laws, I’m not sure how you can be a conservative. It’s the reason there really are no Sodomite conservatives, only infiltrators.

Actually NOT mythical.

There’s a contributor to the National Review who actually supports all those issues and writes passionately about them.

He’s black and he’s gay (but does not flaunt the latter).

Great. If he ever goes straight he has several good points in his favor. Until then, he’s gay and it colors everything he sees.
