MSNBC host Al Sharpton is back at the White House today, this time for a Holy Week prayer breakfast with President Obama and dozens of faith leaders. Sharptons arrival comes just two days after Obama embraced the controversial activist and former FBI informant at a New York event hosted by the liberal broadcaster. Obama used the Sharpton event to accuse Republicans of trying to reverse the 1965 Voting Rights Act and intentionally suppress black voters with state laws requiring voters to show identification. The real voter fraud is those that try to deny our rights by making arguments about voter fraud. Obama compared the ID laws to the Jim Crow restrictions of the segregated South and cast himself as a modern-day civil rights leader. It may not wash with most voters, but will it be enough to frighten the Democratic base into action?
[WSJ: [A blueprint first sketched out by a Yale University law student four years ago], which seized on a mostly ignored provision of the 1965 [Voting Rights] law, has become the government's strategy for challenging states it believes are enacting discriminatory voting laws, including North Carolina and Texas.]
It worked before - While liberals may be enthused that the president is back to attacking Republicans on matters of race, its not a risk-free path. The administration discovered the dangers of ham-handed outreach last week with a botched effort to alarm the single, female voters on whom Democrats rely. After getting pasted over their pay-equity gambit, though, the Obama Democrats are showing no reticence about applying blunt political force to sensitive topics, this time on race. But as campaign watchers learned in 2012, audacious negativity is not something of which Team Obama is afraid. In fact, the forecast for the coming election is increasingly negative and hostile....

hey he gets thousands and thousands of dead democrats to vote. he can scare them to the polls.
if yall DONT vote you no democrats....we send Al Sharpton after you!!
yeah that should work!
FAITH LEADER?? AL SHARPTON??
I wish Al Sharpton would “come after me” as you put it. That’d end that problem.
God isn’t within a billion miles of the White House today as some RELIGOUS leaders meet to pray for the Holy week.
The dead will be voting in droves.
OK then if there is no voter fraud we just make a GUARANTEED MINIMUM 10 YEARS JAIL for voter fraud
just to be sure...
My 95 year old Dad really hated Obama and wanted to vote against him. But as the form arrived after his death, we destroyed it. My guess is he’s been voting Democrat since his death.
They did it in 2006...
Remember the Mexican flags waving the streets, all instigated by SEIU/ACORN?
So he’s saying his supporters are either too stupid, too lazy or too poor or all of the above to get an ID but it’s racist to point that out.
He doesn’t have to scare people to the polls.
Establishment Republicans like McCain, Rove, Cantor, Bush, Boehner etc., will scare voters AWAY from the polls.
They're certainly going to try.
He doesn’t have to SCARE people to the polls, the votes WILL MAGICALLY appear just as they ALWAYS do!!!!
Democrats can push the racist lie only so far. Most Americans are not going to believe it’s racist to require an I.D. to vote. We require I.D. all the time. Why shouldn’t we ask for one before someone votes? It’s completely reasonable. I daresay even most Democrat voters don’t think it’s extreme to ask for an I.D. before one votes.
LOL!!!
Yes...anything is possible with the whack left. All they have to say is, “Your free stuff will end if we don’t get re-elected”...done!
al is too afraid to go after people who know who they are.
the trembling democrack plantation slave on the other hand either adores em or is scared stuffless oe em.
No.
Because congressional districts dont lend themselves to being affected by GOTV efforts based on scaring blacks and gays or whatever.
Dems will win in hard Dem areas, GOP (e or otherwise) will win in their places.
Marginal districts do not have enough lib groups in big concentrated numbers to swing it, otherwise they would have been solid Dem seats.
Senate races are much the same way. The Dems will lose seats in Red states. Those are not able to be gerrymandered.
And the issues are far more local and thus are too varied for Dems to flop down some crap like “hope and change” or vote with your “lady parts” and not have it fail in most places because it is irrelevant.
