July 10, 2012: George P. Bush: A Political Dynasty's Young Hope
Atlantic ^ | 7/10/12 | Molly Ball

Posted on 02/11/2014 2:45:42 PM PST by jimbo123

The fourth-generation heir to the Bush political dynasty, groomed for office since his childhood, is coming of age and building a political network.

His great-grandfather was a senator, his grandfather and uncle presidents, his father governor of Florida. Now a new George Bush is contemplating going into the family business.

George Prescott Garnica Bush, known to friends as "P," is not just a chip off the old preppy block. The 36-year-old son of Jeb Bush and nephew of W. is Hispanic -- his mother, Columba, is from Mexico -- with brown skin, thick black hair, and a toothy, gleaming smile. He's a lawyer, a Navy vet who served in Afghanistan, and a political fundraiser who works to expand the Republican Party's outreach to Latinos and young people. Chatty without being overly polished, he lives in Fort Worth with his wife, whom he met in law school at the University of Texas, and runs half marathons in his spare time. It's as if the ruling class kept pumping out new, less WASPy, more modern products to keep up with changing demand.

Bush has been touted as a political prospect practically since he was old enough to walk. At 12, he spoke at his grandfather's first nominating convention; at 24, he recorded TV commercials for his uncle's 2000 campaign. ("I have an uncle who is running for president because he believes in ... opportunity for every American, for every Latino," he said in the ad. "His name? The same as mine, George Bush.") Of George H.W. Bush's 17 grandchildren, he once boasted of being the favorite.

Lots of ads on local radio here claiming his conservative bona fides.
NO MORE BUSHES!
I think most people here in Texas feel the same way. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Uncle W set the stage for zero.

I’d rather have a random drawing from the US phone book than another Bush.

George Pee Bush is going nowhere.
_____________________________________________________________
I wish that was true, but unfortunately......I think he IS going somewhere. He’s running for Texas Land Commissioner this year and will probably win. Why? People in Texas so hate Obama that it makes them wish George W. Bush was back in the White House. So, they vicariously put George W. back in office by voting for George P.

Wouldn’t that be ironic. The Bush family’s brand of kinder gentler “conservatism” is what has emasculated the GOP and landed us in the situation we’re in.

I’m also a Texan and I vote. But, I will NOT be voting for John Cornhole for Senator. What’s your gut feeling on the Senate race? Here in SE Texas, there is not a whole lot of people talking politics right now. I’m looking for a low turn-out which will help all of the challengers. BTW, Stockman is my Congressman (as he was in the 90s for one term) but, I will not be voting for him. How ‘bout you? Who you goin’ for?

That stalker incident in Florida needs to be broadcast. The Democrats will do it when it suits them. It needs to be done NOW so this snake egg is flattened before it hatches.

I don't mind if he wants to enter politics. I'd be happy for him to bring in more Hispanic and younger voters, but only if he doesn't water down the message of smaller government, thus less intrusive government, and he supports the ideas that Republicans supported for years, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, as guaranteed by the Constitution. If he's all for more responsible capitalism, and NOT for crony capitalism, I'll be happy to hear him out.

I'm not going to discount him based on some of the mistakes made by his father, uncle and grandfather. Let's see what HIS thoughts, ideas and beliefs are before we dismiss him, because that would be doing him an injustice.
