Out of these, assuming Palin and Cruz are too conservative for maistream America, I am in the Rand Paul camp. I feel he can unite the conservatives, the libertarians, and the RINOs.
Ryan, Huckabee, Santorum and Brown are not going anywhere. I don’t think Sarah’s going to run.
Walker and Perry are both good governors.
It’s hard to see any of the rest gaining enough traction to make it out of the gate. There’s still a long, long time to go until we can roust the Obamanauts.
Perry’s gearing up to run.
Winning the Senate and strengthening the House majority are critical in the short run. Obama can be stopped out if that happens and the Dems know it. Obama will do all it takes to defeat us and we have to be doubly ready. The GOP GOTV machine is hobbled. Romney utterly failed to make it work. We need to tech up.
Rand Paul already has his dad's nationwide grass roots organization ready to go, without his dad's crazy.
Correct, it would be easy for Freepers to fight them on twitter whatever, basically what we do here.
I think our younger guys, Cruz, Rubio, Lee, could help on social media. Very much needed if we are to have a chance. I know that last election, it was wall-to-wall leftists and if you dared to oppose them you got unfollowed whatever. Obama and his minions didn't just take to the airwaves, they dominated them.
That’s a good idea.
And sh!tcan the endless debates with journ-0-list moderators.
Rand’s stance on immigration is going to Albatross him. We need immigration reform, not open borders.

The same applies to Walker.
Just say NO to any legislation that contains the word “comprehensive”! Reform of any existing laws needs to be accomplished in incremental steps; not as a total package.
I suspect that Perry will be pushed to run by anti-Cruz forces in order to dilute the Texas support.
I think that’s a great plan. But it’s not going to happen because the people who decide those things won’t allow it to happen. Money to be made and all...screw the actual voters.
Living out here in WA state...would be so nice if our state was in play. I would like my vote to count...
I think Palin and Cruz will start out both running.
Both will (carefully) monitor how voting goes early on.
Whomever is going to lose, will drop out and throw their support completely to the other.
This is my prediction:
Palin / Cruz ( or Cruz / Palin ) 2016
Gotta get tea partiers out to the state conventions so they can choose RNC committeemen. As far as I know only Dave Agema from Michigan is a tea partier on the RNC. Terri Land is the other committeeman and is also tea party friendly (She’s running for the senate seat being vacated by Carl Levin next year)
Its the sad thing about it. Conservatives can’t be bothered to do the little things that have major effects. The RNC sets policy and in Michigan a total of 1500 votes were cast at the state GOP convention.
There isn’t a reason to believe that “comprehensive” is bad. We’re going to have to compromise. No independent bills on immigration will be passed and signed by the President. The political reality is that America is diametrically split on immigration issues. The practical party will win on the national level.
"Comprehensive" is a code word for "amnesty".
Yeah, it's bad.
If Perry runs they'll say he's been fitted with Google glasses so he won't have any more brain freezes.
I know he was recovering from back surgery. Unfortunately for him, that was his "Macaca" moment, and they'll never let him outlive it.
We have de facto amnesty right now. So the status quo is amnesty. There will be another amnesty no matter what. Removing 11 million people isn’t practical. That’s the political reality. That’s the loaf of bread we have to work with.
What items are absolute for conservatives? I’d say a tight southern border, no welfare for illegals (blacks would be good allies here and the GOP needs them) and no more birthright citizenship. If your parents are illegal, you’re an illegal and you never can get citizenship.
Those three solve most of the problem. Fines, taxes, etc. are already acceptable to the Dems. If you do the border legislation correctly you can make the state and the Feds jointly responsible. That will end the Federal hanky panky in immigration law. Let the border states deal with it and political needs will drive the enforcement.
We need to control our borders, and need to stop referring to Rand as either a conservative or a Republican.
They can try, but Perry’s a savvy politician. His state is utterly booming and, you’ll note, he’s not talking social issues, but economic. The way to win the POTUS is on economic issues - jobs, cutting red tape, getting us growing again. Perry’s solid on those items. He also brings Texas into the mix. That means he gets the best brains across dozens of critical industries. Energy is critical to economic success, along with a reasonable regulatory environment. Perry beats Hillary for sure.
A Perry/Walker ticket would be very hard to beat. The public is ready. I believe we’re at a Reagan moment. No matter what we need a Republican in the WH and a GOP Congress.
