Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy has just released a study of the relative effects of stringent gun laws. They found that a country like Luxenbourg, which bans all guns has a murder rate that is 9 times higher than Germany, where there are 30,000 guns per 100,000 people. They also cited a study by the U.S.National Academy of Sciences, which studied 253 journal articles, 99 books, 43 government publications, and it failed to find one gun control initiative that worked.
In fact, in many cases it found that violence is very often lower, where guns are more readily available. The report points to a myth that guns are more easily obtained in the United States than in Europe. That is factually incorrect.

What good are logical arguments anymore?
Anyone who looks at facts knows guns save lives.
So you can know the intent of gun confiscators is not your good health.
They mean to subjugate you.
Maybe its statistically that guns don’t save lives...but someone breaks into your home you kill him= 1 dead....but if that same person breaks into your home and you don’t have a gun your dead=1 death. Its just a matter of weather the bad guy or the good guy gets buried..I am all for the good guy having the gun..
Didn’t Obammy go there on some other muslim’s dime?
Um, according to the Harvard study, gun ownership correlates with LESS murders, and anti-gun laws correlate with MORE murders.
So statistically, it appears that that guns DO save lives.
What was their first clue? 99.9% of us could have told them this, and saved them a ton of money, for an un needed study.
It would be great if Harvard professors did such a study, but the title of this article is an exaggeration. The journal is an excellent but it is a student publication, and the authors of the study are a Canadian professor and a guy “associated with” an institute in California. So this may be an excellent study, and good that the students decided to publish it, but that doesn’t make it a “Harvard Study”.
The conservative on Crossfire pointed out that if you take out the 9 cities with the most stringent gun laws and the US is safer than Europe. The liberal guy said “That’s not true.” WoW! Such a great response!
