Michele Bachmann's taking a bow. Sarah Palin's star has faded. With the brassy, blow-dried bombasts of the GOP moving to the sidelines, there's no elected heir apparent to inherit the mantle and carry the conservative crusade forward on the national stage.
What does that mean for a Republican Party struggling to woo the women voters it needs to win national elections?
It may be for the best, say some of the GOP operatives who have been pushing the party to rebrand itself after its 2012 losses.
"They and their style gives short shrift to other women in the GOP," said Sara Taylor Fagen, a longtime Republican strategist who worked on Mitt Romney's first presidential campaign. "And so the risk for the party is when they become the only face. It does have the possibility of alienating groups of women, and that is a challenge."
---snip---
That's not to say Palin and Bachmann don't have their defenders. The Susan B. Anthony List works to elect anti-abortion women candidates, and the group's president, Marjorie Dannenfelser, argues that both women were trailblazers and role models for anti-abortion, stay-at-home moms who might not otherwise believe they were capable of running for office.
She says Palin and Bachmann have been unfairly ostracized and ridiculed -- not just by Democrats, but by Republicans, too.
"They both became very isolated in elite circles, in Republican circles," Dannenfelser said. "They've gotten immense grassroots support, but then what they experience among the elite in D.C., and board rooms in New York -- they're reviled."(continued)

To Kasie Hunt I say, ‘Bitch, Please!’ LOL!
Fishwives?
GOP dream ticket, if we could just marginalize the Tokyo Roves and Coulters.
Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton are ... what again?
Fishwives?
Hail damaged, swivel-eyed loons? (credit to the brit)
“Ill be surprised if this is the last we see of Michelle Bachmann. I think shes going to go Palin on us. I think the commie libs really messed up again. JMO.”
I believe you’re right about that. The talk of Michelle taking a bow and Sarah’s star fading is nothing but wishful thinking for leftists.
Michelle is leaving DC, not the US. And Sarah was just recently calling obama out on his dirty lies, letting him know his community organizing tactics have left him looking like the inexperienced know-nothing he is. She’s giving him fits!
Neither one is about to back down and let these thugs win.
I find it personally offensive that Michelle Bachman is mentioned as being in the same league as Gov Palin
I love Sarah, but Bachman is a embarrasment
She (Michelle) stepped on it a bit, but we haven’t heard the last of her.
Sarah P. is in a league of her own, and has been for about 4-5 years now.
They are others in the wings, but she is the archetype/prototype heroine.
Be still my heart...
The mid-terms are looming- she’s ready to kick some ass!
If either one of these ladies were elected we would get our wonderful country back and maybe put the goons in jail where they belong..I think a women like one of these two would do better than anyone to run this country..They have the guts and will to lead..they both love this country..
You would be Correct!
MB hurt our cause/my cause by running for President, as far as I am concerned
Certainly she had the right to run. She perhaps/maybe even hurt Gov Palins chances,MB was not up to the task, lots of red flags.
I question MB integrity, mho her run was simply self serving
And I suppose, according to NBC, that stale old skank Hillary is on the rise!
LMBO!
I feel the opposite.
Great that we have the right to offer our own opinions!
I happen to concur..
What is past is past.
A mantle bestowed of God is not easily shed. Interesting times lie ahead, my FRiend!
Great, thanks
