In the two-year cycle of the political calendar, it is candidate-recruitment seasonthe time when Washington operatives fan out across the country to size up the political horseflesh. In the months to come, they will meet with scores of state legislators, small-town mayors, community activists, and upstanding business owners, gauging which ones might have what it takes to run for a House or Senate seat, or for governor or state treasurer. These political scouts will take many qualities into account, from life story to speaking ability to baby-kissing skills. But they will be looking, in particular, for a few good women.
These days, political consultants take for granted that, all else being equal, women make more desirable candidates. Which means that Democratic and Republican operatives alike yearn for nothing more than to discover the next Heidi Heitkamp, a Democrat and former natural-gas-plant director who was elected the junior senator from North Dakota last November, or Deb Fischer, a previously little-known state legislator who won a tough Republican primary and then beat former Senator Bob Kerrey on her way to the Senate last year. Democrats recently failed in their efforts to recruit the actress Ashley Judd to run against Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell next year, but the 2014 election cycle will nonetheless feature a legion of eagerly anticipated female political prospects, from Pennsylvanias Allyson Schwartz, a Democrat preparing to seek the governorship, to West Virginias Shelley Moore Capito, a Republican running for Senate. Women make wonderful candidates for Republicans, Mike Shields, the chief of staff at the Republican National Committee (formerly the political director of the National Republican Congressional Committee), told me. Its no secret our party needs to make progress with women voters, and for that, we need more women leaders. Democrats feel the same way....

She IS the reason!
Numbers don't lie, politicians do.
I prefer a man, but sorting through the current crop of congressman I don’t find but a handful of them.
I have no preference between male and female candidates, or black, white, or Asian. I despise Obama because he’s pure red, and I love Sarah because she’s pure red, white, and blue. I like Rand because he’s likely better than we’ll be able to get otherwise from the GOP. I fear Hillary because she’s likely more competent than what we’ll get from the Democrats otherwise. I don’t discriminate based on race or sex, a stance that makes me a bigot in the eyes of liberals who see everything as race-centered or from the feminist perspective.
Agreed that Cruz, at this point in time, appears as a genuine conservative with a fine mind, adequate voice, and a strong spine. May he inspire other conservatives to stand and dedicate themselves to public service.
I pray every day that I am wrong and I pray for the salvation of America and our way of life... one of traditional American values and a return to GOD for a nation that has grown GOD-less.

I agree 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000% about Cruz. I will venture to say that Cruz is the only man in DC with morals and total honesty. He is a true conservative... a man of Reaganism... a true believer. He is an honorable man... only a handful exist in DC and this one appears to be immune to the progressive cancer that is eating away Conservatism in men like Ryan, Paul and Rubio.

Or maybe the female voters who vote between their legs instead of between their ears...
Or maybe the female voters who vote between their legs instead of between their ears...
I fear that these three are suffering from a bout of Potomac fever and have calculated that they have a better run at the nomination with Karl Rove's money than with the support of a righteous but limited number of conservatives.
I didn’t read it. I suspect from the title and the source that it is more wishful bricklaying for a Hillary run.
“Voters Prefer Female Candidates”.
Think about Pelosi, Feinstein, etc. Really? These women are dumber than dirt and we “prefer them”? Then there is “what difference does it make” Hitlary the liar who wants to be president.
Not in my lifetime do I prefer any of these type!
Palin, Gov. Jan Brewer etc., that is a different story.
OK, let’s look at a female politician and her constituency.....Nancy Pelosi. She’s a drunk, loud-mouthed, arrogant, greedy half-wit. But enough about how her family describes her. Has she been elected because she’s female? Or has she been elected by her constituency to steal from the public treasury for them?
“Understand yourself and understand your opponents and in one hundred battles you will not be defeated.”
Every day, I read Free Republic and I see the articles about how the Democrats are socialists and Moslems. They are just a bunch of dirty little thieves.
The Atantic magazine......
The Atlantic is full of garbage, crabs and fish s**t.
At this point, Cruz is the only one I would consider supporting.
I believe that you may be on to something there.
