Why Fox News dropped Sarah Palin [Palin dropped Fox]
The Christain Science Monitor ^ | January 26, 2013 | Brad Knickerbocker

When the history of US politics in the early 21st century is written, two figures will stand out: Barack Obama and Sarah Palin.

The election of Mr. Obama to the highest elective office – the first African-American to win the presidency – did not necessarily signal a new era of post-racial politics. But coming just a generation after federal troops in the South (and a federal judge in Boston) were necessary to desegregate public schools, it was a huge milestone.

Sarah Palin was not the first woman to win a major political party’s vice presidential nomination; that was US Rep. Geraldine Ferraro, Walter Mondale’s running mate way back in 1984.

But the presence of the former Alaska governor on the GOP ticket headed by Sen. John McCain in 2008 invigorated the party – at the time, at least. And although they lost to Obama and Joe Biden, it wasn’t the blowout that Mondale and Ferraro suffered against Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush.

Ferraro went on to relative political obscurity, twice losing Democratic Party primaries for the US Senate. Ms. Palin, on the other hand, was just getting started when the returns for the 2008 presidential race were being counted.

Over the next few years, she became a political force of nature – stirring a tea party base that thronged to her appearances, scaring GOP incumbents deemed too willing to find common ground with Democrats, and building a very lucrative business that included (for one season, at least) her own “reality” TV show while launching one of her five children – daughter Bristol – on her own entertainment career.

Meanwhile, as with some other conservative ex-elected officials like Mike Huckabee, Palin was given a sinecure of sorts as a commentator for Fox News...

Fox (meaning Roger Ailes) wanted her gone, but they desperately didn’t want to deal with the bad public relations blowback from Palin loyalists.

So they offered her an extension with a huge salary cut. That way, she could gracefully decline to renew. Which she did.

Palin doesn’t bad-mouth Fox, and Fox reciprocates. No need to alienate each other.

Brad Knickerbocker of the CSM: Can you trust his reporting?

Most definitely you can. Assuming that is, of course, that you want heavily biased yellow reportage such as that featured in “Across the country, many mobilize against illegal immigration”

The bottom line of the report seems to be to portray those opposed to illegal immigration as various kinds of bad people. Some of the words and phrases used in the article include: “nativism”, “anti-immigrant”, “extremist movements”, “extreme anti-immigrant sentiment”, “conspiracy theories”, “opposed to multiculturalism”, “[historical] violent reactions to immigrants”, and “extremist activities”. And, those are words coming from the author; those from the people he quotes are even worse.

Figures they get it wrong. SHE ended it. As for the rest, I didn’t read it. Already saw the Politico version. I’ll listen to her, not the wishful thinking of the Left. Their media have done enough damage to this country. Sarah will speak for herself....and I can’t wait. :-)

Check with your doctor, there may be a cure for tunnel vision.

That said, you are partly right, Hukabee is not a RINO, he's a jerk with a guitar and some following.

It’s not about Kucinich, it’s about Fox continuing to drift further and further left.

In the corporate world, sometimes they let you resign instead of firing you. But you know and I know and everyone knows, you were fired.

Fox fired Palin by offering her a salary they knew she would never accept.

It’s not an attack on Sarah Palin to call things as they are. I’m a big Palin supporter and still wish she had run for President.

But Fox (very politely) fired her.

I think we all place too much emphasis on what the media does and does not do but I fully understand the impact their ignorance has on the American public.

For the most part they are nothing but a cabal of people who do nothing but Monday morning quarterback everything that happens. They do not make anything of value, they only report with a ton of bias on what other people do.

More and more I am watching them less and less as very few of them have any expertise in the area in which they are reporting.

The slobbering love fest over a half black man is the last straw. If that is the best the black community has to offer then maybe the bigots were right.

Very few humans with the charisma of the magic negro have used that charisma for good. Usually significant human tragedy follows those with both charisma and a lust for power. The path of Hitler is almost parallel with bHo.

You people are like a cat chasing its tail. Not one person in a thousand either knows or cares about this. It is irrelevant.

I'm sorry, but you can't believe anything that's reported about Sarah Palin in the MSM.

They lie about her all the time.

Liberals live in a fantasy world where everything exists the way they think they should be, NOT the way things really are. In other words they’re quite delusional.

At the bottom of the article you posted, it’s revealed that Fox offered her a significantly reduced contract, but that she refused to take the pay cut and walked away.

Juan Williams is a huge putz who’s nothing more than a broken record of talking points. A broken clock is right much more often than him.

>Sarah chose NOT to renew her relationship with FOX.<

.
I broke my relationship with FOX a long time ago.

I really do not see that much of a difference between FOX and the rest of the MSM.

What can you expect — they are partly owned by the Saudis.

FOX is a business based upon each of their commentators obtaining satisfactory ratings. They pay their commentators based upon those ratings. To put it another way if she was watched by untold millions Fox would have paid her accordingly. They cut their offer as she was not drawing the viewers.

Palin's real value is apparently motivating some voters that is where she belongs-giving Rah Rah Rah speeches.

Ailes has been wanting to rid himself of Palin for sometime now, particularly after she ignored him during the Tucson lynching and defended herself with her outstanding video at the time.

After she went rogue on him, he had a big problem on his hands though. He couldn't outright fire her without bringing the roof down on Fox's head, and so he began scaling back her appearances (leading to her Facebook complaints), and when her contract came up to renewal, he only offered her a a new contract with an insultingly large pay cut. So she's walked away, as he intended, leaving Fox unscathed.

say people familiar with the situation,

AKA unknown sources. How long have you been on FR that you would spend one moment on that OR waste bandwidth on it?

It's always the same old ones on FR that remain unteachable.

Until the whispering and leaking campaign against her by Ailes' toadies starts in a few days, that is...
