Why Fox News dropped Sarah Palin [Palin dropped Fox]
The Christain Science Monitor ^ | January 26, 2013 | Brad Knickerbocker

When the history of US politics in the early 21st century is written, two figures will stand out: Barack Obama and Sarah Palin.

The election of Mr. Obama to the highest elective office – the first African-American to win the presidency – did not necessarily signal a new era of post-racial politics. But coming just a generation after federal troops in the South (and a federal judge in Boston) were necessary to desegregate public schools, it was a huge milestone.

Sarah Palin was not the first woman to win a major political party’s vice presidential nomination; that was US Rep. Geraldine Ferraro, Walter Mondale’s running mate way back in 1984.

But the presence of the former Alaska governor on the GOP ticket headed by Sen. John McCain in 2008 invigorated the party – at the time, at least. And although they lost to Obama and Joe Biden, it wasn’t the blowout that Mondale and Ferraro suffered against Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush.

Ferraro went on to relative political obscurity, twice losing Democratic Party primaries for the US Senate. Ms. Palin, on the other hand, was just getting started when the returns for the 2008 presidential race were being counted.

Over the next few years, she became a political force of nature – stirring a tea party base that thronged to her appearances, scaring GOP incumbents deemed too willing to find common ground with Democrats, and building a very lucrative business that included (for one season, at least) her own “reality” TV show while launching one of her five children – daughter Bristol – on her own entertainment career.

Meanwhile, as with some other conservative ex-elected officials like Mike Huckabee, Palin was given a sinecure of sorts as a commentator for Fox News...

Didn't she refuse to renew her contract with them? How many times now have they written her political obituary? I lost track around 40 and that was quite some time ago.

Everything that I have read said what you heard. Sarah chose NOT to renew her relationship with FOX.

This article seems biased, and involving Colin Powell seems a meaningless distraction.

Yet a good story about Palin seems worth commenting on, nonetheless.

:D

Also, Mike Huckabee is a RINO, not a conservative! Ditto, John McCain!

Although as it is reported she denied to renew, that isnt’ the whole story. What isnt being said is if Fox coughed up something similar to the $1 million a year she was getting before.

Obviously, with these kinds of things if she is being offered say $150k or 200,000 now and a 2 year or less contract. Then it could be said that Fox has cooled much more over her, than vice a versa...but the dollar figures are not being talked about! The $Dollar$ are the story!

This article was written before it was learned that Palin had turned down the contract. Go to the second page of the article and scroll to the bottom and you will see an update.

Why? Because FOX is going leftist and the hiring of Kucinich was the last straw for her.

From the end of the article:

UPDATE – Howard Kurtz reports on the Daily Beast Saturday:

“Fox News offered Sarah Palin a new contract before she decided to part ways with the network where she has held forth as a commentator for the last three years.

“However, it would be hard to describe it as a generous contract….

“The new contract offered by Fox, say people familiar with the situation, would have provided only a fraction of the million-dollar-a-year salary. It was then, they say, that Palin turned it down and both sides agreed to call it quits.”

Kucinich was last straw for me. Sarah will be just fine with whatever she does.

BTW I wrote a warning about Fox when they doubled Juan Williams contract, and I was criticized for it. No one criticizes me anymore for that....

Traditionalists and Social Conservatives are still Conservatives ~ and not RINOs. Some Fiscally oriented Republicans are RINOs and not Conservatives.

We are not going to let you or anybody else write the Traditionalists, National Defense or Social Conservatives out of the movement, or out of the Republican party.

If you don't care for them the Democrats await you with open arms ~

Juan Williams is their token black guy.

That’s all he is. Wisdom does not exist in Juan Williams he only spouts the black side and 99% of the time is dead wrong. But since they have to have a black guy why not Juan Williams.

Thanks for the update..but they should change the title of their article, it makes it appear like she was dropped from Fox which is not the case

juan is generally personable. most of the other leftwingtards on TV are not personable. FOX has always had a bias for personable people.

I’m not talking about hiring Juan, I’m talking about doubling his Fox contract in knee jerk reaction to NPR figing him. THAT was what I said was a mistake.

Still no excuse to double his contract when NPR fired him, which was my only point.....

“But since they have to have a black guy why not Juan Williams.”

Also he’s not particularly bitter or rude, just stupid. Perfect.

Feminists are not conservative.

Palin is a self described Feminist.

You might as well support McCain (like she did and does).

I really don’t have a problem with Kucinich. At least he is exactly what he touts himself to be. He is one of the few to leave congress after serving way to long without becoming a millionaire. He may be a bullcrap spouting liberal nutcase.. but he sticks to what he says.
