On Saturdays broadcast of Up w/Chris Hayes, Minnesota Democratic Rep. Rick Nolan suggested that the National Rifle Associations rhetoric is at least partially responsible for the increasingly disturbing threats he is receiving from constituents.
I think it would be a mistake to underestimate the kind of toxic effect that the NRA is having, Nolan said. I have never, ever in all my life feared for my security. And Im not fearful of it now. But Im a little more [concerned] than I ever had been before. Weve been getting a lot of not-very-thinly-veiled threats and calls into my office. You know, things like, You tell him he better watch his back. Nobody has actually come out and said theyre gunning for me, but the messages are quite angry, vitriolic and a little bit frightening to people at my front desk who have been taking the calls. Im a little nervous about it. Ive never been nervous before. But they are very toxic in the effect theyre having on the American public.
The NRA endorsed Nolans unsuccessful opponent in the 2012 race, then-Republican Rep. Chip Cravaack, and assigned Nolan an F rating because of his stance on gun control.
The last three or four days of this last campaign, Wayne LaPierre, head of the NRA, was in my district, going town to town with my opponent, he said. Anybody in my district that had ever gotten a hunting license got three or four calls saying, Nolan is going to take your guns away, which is not true. Im a big Second Amendment supporter. I hunt. I fish...

Big 2A supporters don’t belong to the Democrat Party, the party of gun confiscation.
Would anyone listen to a politician that claimed to be opposed to racism, but was a member of the KKK... wait, I guess if you vote Democrat, you would.
“threats he is receiving from constituents.”
He is a member of the House of REPRESENTATIVES. His Duty is to represent the people of his House District. He apparently decided to represent his own agenda and not those of “his constituents”.
The people are voicing their 1st Amendment right on the 2nd Amendment.
Please don’t flame me for this, but a lot of folks here in South Carolina who have driven through Asheville, Charlotte, Chapel Hill, or have heard your governor speak, are convinced that N.C. stands for “New Commieland”.
Rick Who ?
Exactly.
Rally photos here:
“Thats okay - Im a gun owning taxpayer and Im threatened by this government every day.....”
Amen to that. Now he knows how the rest of us feel.
If a clown like Rick Nolan was really a Second Amendment supporter, he would know the purpose of it is to give us a chance to defend ourselves against Rick Nolan.
When will a reporter call these clowns on the carpet as they need to be called.
He should have immediately been asked if he had contacted the FBI about any “not-very-thinly-veiled threats” made to him.
If he has not done so, it is highly likely that he is just imagining threats from innocuous statements, like “I support the Second Amendment” is absolutely not a threat unless you fantasize it to be. Or that he is fabricating the notion of threats against him out of whole cloth, which Democrats have been often known to do.
In any event, since he said he has been “not-very-thinly-veiled threatened” in public, the FBI should be asked as to whether they have pursued such threats.
Threatening federal officials other than the president is a Class C or D felony, usually carrying maximum penalties of 5 or 10 years under 18 U.S.C. § 875, 18 U.S.C. § 876 and other statutes, and it is investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, if they become aware of it.
Plus, calls and emails to a congressional office are logged and may likely be recorded, so there should be clear evidence not only of a threat, if such evidence exists, as well as who made it.
Then again, the congressman may be pulling a Tawana Brawley.
“Dem congressman says hes received threats over opposition to NRA”
Prove it.
The only people threatening violence are tolerant liberals and their enablers.
Liberals always make the situation all about them. Lying liers.
She me the proof. DEMS always lie about threats.
