GALLUP: One Of Republicans' Biggest Advantages Has Evaporated At The Worst Possible Time
Business Insider ^ | Sep. 20, 2012 | Brett LoGiurato

Democratic enthusiasm has surged both in swing states and nationally, according to a new Gallup poll, topping Republican enthusiasm and, in the process, wiping out what was thought to be a major advantage for Republicans and presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

Democrats have seen a rise in enthusiasm since July. In 12 swing states, Gallup found that 73 percent of Democrats now say they are "extremely" or "very" enthusiastic about voting for president in the upcoming election. Previously, that percentage had lagged behind at just 53 percent in June.

I predicted voters in WI were spring-loaded to vote in support for Walker. I was right and he won with 53% of the vote. I have the same sense in this presidential race. I think Romney wins with ~51% to 52%.

I live in Madison. In 2008 the Madison campus has scores and scores of bumper stickers and signs plastered in student's windows. Now, in 2012 an ocassional bumper sticker on some white-bearded prof's Subaru or Pruis. I have yet to see any Obama window signs.

Is this all anecdotal? Sure, but with each election you get a certain feeling in the air regarding what's about to happen, and this election is no different.

This wouldn't shock me:

October 1, 2012 — A USA TODAY/Gallup Poll shows 47% of Americans would support the removal of George Washington on the one-dollar ($1) bill in favor of current President Barack Obama. It is the highest showing yet in monthly polling.

Conservatives (me included) will go to the polls in November, hold our noses, and vote for Mittens. Will I go out and work my a$$ off for the guy? Not hardly. Will many of the most hard core conservatives decide not to even bother to vote at all?

What utter garbage!

NO REAL CONSERVATIVE IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH NEEDS ROMNEY TO MOTIVATE THEM TO FIGHT IN THIS ELECTION AGAINST THE GRAVEST THREAT TO THEIR COUNTRY IN THEIR LIFETIME!

Any "so called conservative" who sits this one out is fraud!

Gallup failed to publish results that 99% of Republicans will definitely vote inspite of the Black Panther Party swearing on their mother’s graves to stop them.... Come Hell or High Water, Republican’s and most Independent’s will vote against Obama.

His minions have already put his pic on the Flag. I’m guessing ~47% of us will soon think that’s a great idea.

Yup, this is what I am seeing as well. There is no where near the enthusiasm for Obama this time around.

The polls must be in zeros favor so the libs can claim election fraud when their messiah loses.

What the lamestream media is doing isn’t just shameful, it’s borderline dangerous. Are they going to be held responsible for the riots and people going nuts when Obama has his butt handed to him in November? They’re setting up these expectations and a scenario where when he loses, it creates a situation that makes the Watts Riots look like a church picnic.

They will try to use these polls as proof that the voter ID laws area poll tax. Then they will file massive law suits to contest the Romney victory. Scary stuff. It will happen, unless the margin of victory is huge. The riots will happen no matter what if Romney wins. I am not as worried about that as I am the voter ID shenanigans.

“What utter garbage! “

Ah, the one advantage of being old. I've lived through these movies before and know exactly how they turn out.

In ‘92, too many people fell under Perot's spell and we were stuck with Clintoon. We also almost got a worse health care bill and the destruction of the 2nd amendment. I took almost the entire year of 1994 and worked my butt off to make sure we riled up every conservative to be found. And with hundreds of thousands just like me across the country, the 1994 Congressional elections tied Clintoons hands and pretty much saved the country. All that was left was to boot the “bend one” out of office and say “good riddance.”

What happened?

In 1996 Dole hung around until he got the nomination. Unfortunately he had a track record of being all over the place on many issues, and most conservatives had a high degree of distrust about his policies (almost everyone respected the man himself). All of the people that I had been able to call just two years before and get any help I needed, were now all “really busy.”

I'm sorry to burst anyone’s bubble, but the sad fact is this: If you want to fire up the base, you have to have a candidate that can fire up the base. It really doesn't matter how much they hate the other guy, it won't be enough. People have to be fired-up about their candidate, to be fired-up! And Mittens just doesn't seem to have the spark to fire up anybody.

Yup, this is what I am seeing as well. There is no where near the enthusiasm for Obama this time around.

I live in South Philadelphia and in 2004 it looked like a John Kerry theme park, but that was nothing compared to 2008. It seemed that every non-moving object was plastered with the "hope" poster or Obama Biden stickers.

This year, you wouldn't know it was an election year at all.

They are forgetting we aren’t going to the polls to vote for just a president. We also need the House and Senate
as well as state and local candidates elected.

I got polled by PPP on the Dan Lungren race out here and I wish I could have recorded the questions. They made you think that Congressman Lungren was single-handedly responsible for global warming, starving children, and the Batman shootings. I'm surprised the polls would show him with a lead after that line of questioning. Of course I pressed the buttons to describe myself as an 18-23 year old, Hispanic, female Democrat. Polls are absolute nonsense now that people are using them as propaganda.

I hope you are right. You, and others, are the reason I read FR...to get a sense of what is going on in battleground states...from people who actually live there and who see it everyday.

I know no one can know for sure...but it is encouraging none-the-less.
