Less than an hour after President Barack Obama had stepped off of the Democratic National Convention stage, Republican challenger Mitt Romney's campaign announced 15 new, state-specific television advertisements which the campaign says will run in 8 battlegrounds.
A week ago, Romney was officially made the Republican Party's presidential nominee, granting him access to a substantial war chest set aside for the general election. His campaign largely stayed off of television during the Democratic National Convention, which concluded after Obama's speech on Thursday.
--snip--
Now that Romney has officially been named the GOP nominee his campaign will get its hands on tens of millions of dollars that could only be tapped for the general election part of the campaign.
The spots will air in the eight battleground states of Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, and Virginia, the campaign said. Each is rated a toss up on the CNN Electoral Map...

Don't want to be invisible in a state that you're 90% likely to flip, but the base there would like to see that you care just the same.
Versus 100% likely to flip Indiana = no ads. Unless you live on the Ohio border lol...
Colorado and New Hampshire are just gravy, as also it would be if Mittens took both NV and IA.
Although it's worth noting if you did all of the above, you could overcome the loss of Ohio. You wouldn't even need New Hampshire.
Basically a Kerry+Ohio scenario but the GOP candidate would still win because of reapportionment. If it comes down to that, wow the Donkeys will pull their hair out one strand at a time...
Romney has already won NC so that should be called a Romney stronghold soon. As far as Iowa goes I really hope that Romney takes a commanding lead in Iowa, if he can win both Iowa and Ohio he will win the White House(Am I right or does he need to win other battleground states too in order to win?) I think Romney will take MO, he might be trailing now but I doubt that lasts long. Wisconsin only being up 1 wont be enough, still have to factor in the dead and illegal aliens who will be voting for Obama
Why would you assume that? Romney is a alot of things and he wasn't my first choice but I do trust he has a good control on his finances. He may not win but he will play on a high level.
also a good vid

I like Rasmussen, but he hasn’t exactly been hitting on all cylinders in 2010. He skews older because he only does calling of landlines while so many people have cell phones only now. So his population pool has some problems with it.

Forgive me for posting from this particular gay blog, but this guy cites a Romney source that specifically says that they’re going to expand to WI,MI,PA. They’re just unleashing an offensive starting with the battleground states. http://www.gaypatriot.net/2012/09/06/gaypatriot-exclusive-leftist-talking-points-busted-again/
Time is short, said one campaign aide. We have $100 million weve just raised. If you look at our burn rate to date and our cash on hand, theres not much more we can spend on infrastructure. So weve got to start spending our general election funds in a big way, because you know what the value of that money is on the day after the election? Zero.
Yes, he didn’t want to be President and spent the money to keep his Senate seat.
Team Romney is NOT team McCain. I read an article in the Washington Compost of all places Romeny is playing WI and MI:
Debunked 12ways from Sunday, by no less than WA Post!! Turns out that in WI, PA, and MI, there are huge organizations and the 12 states getting ads now are just the FIRST WAVE. I can’t copy from my I pad, but I can post later.
Ok, but this doesn’t say if Ras is averaging the swing states or if Mitt leads in every one.
This is a Dem operative, not “news”.
Hmm. You may have a point, but some polls, like the new ARG poll that has Romney up four nationally in a slightly Dem heavy sample DID use a % of cells. I did not look at the ratios of land to cell breakdowns, but that’s a good research project :)
Found it: the split ing the ARG poll where Romney leads by 4 is 83% land lines, 17% cell. Romney led by 5 in former, trailed by 3 in latter. So, it arrears that Ras is pretty close, maybe 1/2% off.
But occasionally they report the truth, either by accident or just to keep us on our toes.
