Mitt Romney has swung 6 points in three days in the Reuters/Ipsos daily tracking poll as he prepares to give his big speech accepting the Republican nomination for president, now leading President Obama 44 to 42 percent in the poll among likely voters.
The results suggest evidence of the traditional "bounce" a candidate typically enjoys from coverage of the party's convention.
"I'd say the convention is going very well for him," Ipsos pollster Julia Clark told Reuters.
The poll also shows some measures of Romney's personal attributes improving, though they're still not very good. Romney's likability is up to 30 percent among the rolling sample of nearly 1,500 registered voters. That's up from 26 percent at the start of the week. More voters also now say he is a "good person" it's up to 32 percent from 29 percent on Monday...

And that was BEFORE tonight: the documentary, Clint Eastwood, Marco Rubio, and Mitt. . .
After tonight, I think Obama is staying around 42% for good!
Roooter polls are usually very badly slanted toward Dems.
We can surely expect the DNC to employ some nontraditional methods to deflate the Romney ball.
With tonight’s performance, I truly believe in our ticket and we can have no clearer goal. WE MUST WIN IN NOVEMBER. Congratulations to Romney for an inspiring speech. I will be honored to have you as my next president. Something I could never say about the snake-oil merchant who occupies the White House today. This party felt deflated and lost for so many years, but tonight, after hearing all of these great voices who represent the next generation of conservatism, in contrast to the vitriolic hate of the MSNBC anchors and celebrity Tweeters, I am ready to fight for our future.
There nothing funny about somebody making an effort to unseat their president.
I agree - I thought he did a fantastic job tonight.
So that means it’s even better news than it would be otherwise?
As a Wisconsin voter who had the privilege to vote for governor Walker four times I am pleased with the ticket.
Interesting trick by Reuters — they know there will be a convention bounce, so they poll in the MIDDLE of the convention, so they can announce a “bounce” that is smaller than what it will likely be after tonight.
That very well could be so that Obama’s support is collapsing and Roooters did their best to keep him in the ballpark.
I think that the polling companies lowered Romney’s numbers last week so that there could be a convention bounce without Romney getting too far ahead. Obama will get a bounce too and by 9/15 the polls will be back even.
And actually some major polls have swung TOWARDS Obama. I marvel that some here, like the Rats, pick and choose only the polls they like.
This poll may be correct, it may not, but we are easily fooled if we just keep on finding what we like and going with that and claiming everything we don’t like is biased.
