Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney is seen as more 'mainstream' than President Barack Obama according to a Rasmussen poll posted on Sunday morning:
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely U.S. Voters finds that 52% say its more accurate to describe the putative Republican nominees views as mainstream, while 30% regard them as extreme. Eighteen percent (18%) are undecided.
When it comes to the president's political views, 45% of voters say they're in the mainstream, but an identical 45% say it's more accurate to describe them as extreme.
This same poll, however, showed that voters are equally divided over whether or not they would consider Mr. Obama's politics "mainstream or extreme." Rasmussen's Daily Presidential tracking poll for Sunday shows Mitt Romney with 48 percent of the of the vote with Obama four points behind at 44 percent....

Romney’s winning, and he’s not even the nominee yet.
I could beat Mr. Obama this time around, and so could you.
Fine, but that’s kinda like saying someone is less bloodthirsty than Vlad the Impaler...
Obama is going to lose badly.
Badly.
The only question is, will Romney choose Palin and make this campaign about them?
Or choose someone “milktoast”, and make this about him, starting November 5th.
:D
Ask people , If they think Obama is really mainstream, name someone who is to his left. Give an example of views & policies which are to the extreme left of his.
They've been able to slap down Obama's every move in the last few weeks and no, not everyone could do that. Romney's experience as a successful exec seems now to be coming to the fore.
Debates will be good this year.
Hell, Rep. Dennis Kucinich looks like Scoop Jackson alongside Mr. Obama!
I agree wholeheartedly. Romney was probably my last choice for the nomination, but he’s got a well oiled machine in place for this general election. They have beat back every single attack so far. With the help of the conservative media, this team seems to be prepared for the fight.
Obama may be up the creek but he is definitely not “mainstream”.
Thomas Dewey was leading right up to the last minute against Harry S Truman, in 1948, and there was even a newspaper headline attesting to the fact that President-Elect Dewey was on his way to the White House.
A funny thing happened before nightfall.
Thanks 2ndDivisionVet.
I trust Rasmussen for accuracy, BTW, more than any other major polling firm.
Thanks justiceseeker93. Turnout will be everything — if undecideds are undermotivated because they’re not terribly unhappy with the way things are going, Zero can count on his highly motivated army of racists who will vote for him and no one else.
Totally agree.
This Romney team appears to be on the ball.
The Repubs on the Sunday shows were totally ready for Obama’s new strategy.
Obama flopped on Bain, flopped on dog wars, and flopped on class envy.
This time out the dems trotted out how ghastly Romney’s record as governor was, with a bunch of phony statistics to prove it.
The two guests, Gillespie and Kasich, were totally ready with their own statistics which were completely opposite.
Chris Wallace seemed particularly bewildered when confronted with the pubbie statistics. He was like ... I just gave you statistics straight from Obama and you’re telling me something different ... but, but, but.
I think Romney is going to follow up his successful campaign for the nomination with a smart, successful campaign against Obama and he will pull no punches.
If someone is in what is essentially a two-man race with Vlad the Impaler then that is sufficient.
I agree.
We have an anti-'Rat tsunami forming.
However, the first the MSM will mention it will be on November 7th.
I think Romney is going to follow up his successful campaign for the nomination with a smart, successful campaign against Obama and he will pull no punches.
I agree 100%.
He’s going to keep 0bama on the defensive.
Time for a REAL TEA PARTY!
