The topsy-turvey GOP presidential season just flipped again as a new poll shows Mitt Romney has jumped to the lead in both Michigan and Arizona just days before pivotal primaries in both states.
The former Bay State governor has 40 percent of the vote to 34 percent for red-hot rival Rick Santorum in Michigan, Rasmussen Reports states today.
The survey of likely Republican voters was taken last night a day after the CNN debate where Romney went on the attack against Santorums record in the U.S. Senate.
Michigan holds its primary Tuesday night. So does Arizona, where Romney is also leading 42 to 29 percent, respectively, according to Rasmussen.
Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul trail well behind the two GOP leaders.
Michael Dennehy, who helped run U.S. Sen. John McCains presidential campaign, said the boost is partially due to Romneys strong debate performance.
Im sure part of it is due to the debate, said Dennehy. Clearly Mitt Romney had Rick Santorum on the defense all night long, challenging his record in the Senate, especially on earmarks, and thats an issue that base Republican voters have a passion for when it comes to cleaning up Washington.
He added that negative ads hitting Santorum in Michigan by both Romneys PAC and Paul have hurt the former Pennsylvania senator.
Is the problem that Santorum and Gingrich don’t have the money to run attack ads on Romney?
“Sounds like Rand Paul will be Milt’s running mate, huh? “
Boy, if they think that’s gonna pull THIS conservative into the fold, they’ve got another thing coming.
I’ve seen this poll in 400 places today. It’s a debate bump, hardly the end game. Especially since the ARG poll had Santorum ahead.
But it does probably serve to try and paint Mittens as the one with momentum.
Well we know the polls have never been wrong this year. He should win in a landslide like he did in CO. OOPS.
Pray for America
Maybe, maybe not. I’ve seen too many polls here on the ground in Michigan turn out to be totally wrong over the years.
We have a lot of out of state college students who skew the polls.
.
You nailed it.
This is a nightmare.
Romnut gave a speech in Detroit today. Epic fail.
Fewer than expected crowd and rousing new tax plan topic wasn’t able to capture the interest of a whole lotta folks.
Santorum campaign has gone on the attack against Mittens in Michigan, planning a much more aggressive weekend strategy. Wish he had done that at the debate but it’s never too late to take on a Moderate Massachusetts for his lies, is it?
As for Rand and Ron, they both make me sick.
Probably about the same as big Newt liked it. Which is not at all.
But I think Rick will finish about two to three times higher in Michigan than Newt’s Iowa total %.
At least I’m hoping.
I was just reading about that. The stadium held 70,000, but only 1,000 showed up---some of them schoolkids bused in for appearances!
So you would be backing Romney then? Lets get real, Santorum losing Michigan definitely doesn’t help Newt.
Fewer than expected crowd and rousing new tax plan topic wasnt able to capture the interest of a whole lotta folks.
Fewer then expected? That is an understatement. He had 1200 people in a 65k+ stadium. WHAT!?!? Are you kidding me?!?! Yeah I can see him getting voters really psyched come convention time (LOL). What a loser.
This guy is a moron and total embarrassment. Why anyone would vote for this clown is beyond me.
Mitt McDole suffers from electile dysfunction
And then his inspiring topic? Tax Reform. The kids loved it!
That's what I was thinking. Not so pleasant when you're the one getting bombarded.
Anyway a freeper can find out how much he spent on the fiasco rental of the large stadium?
What hall? You mean the football field?
