Osteen: Romney "believer in Christ, like me"
CBS This Morning ^ | January 16, 2012 | CBS This Morning

Posted on 01/16/2012 9:22:12 AM PST by Saundra Duffy

(CBS News) Pastor Joel Osteen, one of America's most popular religious figures, said on "CBS This Morning" that GOP candidate Mitt Romney believes in Jesus like he does.

"What I see about Governor Romney is that he says, 'I believe Jesus Christ is the son of God, he's raised from the dead and he's my savior.' I see him as being a believer in Christ, like me."

Charlie Rose said, "That's enough for you?"

"That's enough for me," Osteen said. "There's differences in all religion. I realize Mormonism is different from Christianity, but you know what, he's a man of faith and values. And to me, that's strong."

“Pastor Joel Osteen is a wonderful young man, a strong Christian, with a strong Testimony of the Gospel; he has a great family and he is a very good example.”

He may be all of that. But please check out what the prosperity gospel is that he represents; and how it is scripturally incorrect.

You can pick at nits forever and a day, but the following is the crux of what you must resolve in your heart.

"We may talk of men being redeemed by the efficacy of his [Christ's] blood; but the truth is that that blood has no efficacy to wash away our sins. That must depend upon our own action." [ LDS Apostle Amasa M. Lyman, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 7, p. 299, 1859]

And here are seven references from The Bible, New Testament portion, which show this mormonic teaching to be anti-Christian/the spirit of anti-christ:

Corinthians 10:16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

Hebrews 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

1 Peter 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

1 Peter 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Given this mormonic teaching that is the very essence of Antichrist, it is still amazing how much LDS inc apologists want folks to believe LDS inc is Christianity restored! MormonISM is the very essence of slick anti-Christ inveigling, and the promoters of this anti-Christian religion will continue to be exposed and opposed so long as Christians are not squelched by the political correctness approach inherent in the lie that exposing mormonISM is hate or hatred of the people trapped in this demonic cult.

No depth, and broad is the way that leads to destruction...

When you FINALLY get to the other side; pull off to the left and park and then go play in the quicksand!

The water’s about a foot deep, except where the holes are scoured out, moving down stream.

Standing on the sandy bottom, the water swirls around your feet and legs and gradually washes the sand out from under your feet and you SLOWLY sink; never trapped unless you want to be. Pulling your feet from the hole, you can watch as the hole enlarges on the downstream side and fills in on the upstream side, and the hole miraculously moves downstream and it gradually fills and vanishes.!

1. IMO MHGinTN has more credibility in Mormonism than Amasa M. Lyman does. He was an “apostate” who was disfellowshipped and then later excommunicated by the LDS leadership. So why do you keep quoting Amasa M. Lyman? Spend your time quoting Brigham Young or others who actually spent their whole church lives totally in the church and with top-level respect within Mormonism.

2. I also can’t believe that I’m in the role of defending Mormonism on this thread. Why don’t you go read everything I’ve written about Mormonism on FreeRepublic over the years and you’ll see what I mean. LOL!!!!

I wonder, why is it that the LDS inc corporation had not repudiated Lyman’s teaching JOurnaled in the LDS inc JOurnal of Discourses then? And if you dig deeply into MormonISM teaching by leaders who have not been ‘excommunicated’, there is substantial reason to believe Lyman’s teaching remains because it is not contrary to what the Mormon leadership believe to be the ‘truth’. Additionally, if the teaching documents of LDS inc contain materials that support the spirit of anti-Christ, do you really think it matters that Lyman was eventually ‘excommunicated’, and do you know why he was? It certainly wasn’t for what he has entered in the LDS inc JOurnal of Discourses, eh?

Spend your time quoting Brigham Young or others who actually spent their whole church lives totally in the church and with top-level respect within Mormonism.

Is BrighamYoung lying?

"For unbelievers we will quote from the Scriptures - "Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God." Again - "Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh, is of God."

I will now give my scripture - "Whosoever confesseth that Joseph Smith was sent of God to reveal the holy Gospel to the children of men, and lay the foundation for gathering Israel, and building up the kingdom of God on the earth, that spirit is of God; and every spirit that does not confess that God has sent Joseph Smith, and revealed the everlasting Gospel to and through him, is of Antichrist.......

 - BrighamYoung

Here's some MORE for MORMON's...

"Now if any of you will deny the plurality of wives, and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned; and I will go still further and say, take this revelation, or any other revelation that the Lord has given, and deny it in your feelings, and I promise that you will be damned.

- JoD 3:266 (July 14, 1855)

It is true that the earth was organized by three distinct characters, namely, Eloheim, Yahovah, and Michael, these three forming a quorum, as in all heavenly bodies, and in organizing element, perfectly represented in the Deity, as Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

Again, they will try to tell how the divinity of Jesus is joined to his humanity, and exhaust all their mental faculties, and wind up with this profound language, as describing the soul of man, "it is an immaterial substance!" What a learned idea! Jesus, our elder brother, was begotten in the flesh by the same character that was in the garden of Eden, and who is our Father in Heaven. Now, let all who may hear these doctrines, pause before they make light of them, or treat them with indifference, for they will prove their salvation or damnation.

I have given you a few leading items upon this subject, but a great deal more remains to be told. Now, remember from this time forth, and for ever, that Jesus Christ was not begotten by the Holy Ghost.

- JoD 1:50-51 (April 9, 1852)

The rank, rabid abolitionists, whom I call black-hearted Republicans, have set the whole national fabric on fire. Do you know this, Democrats? They have kindled the fire that is raging now from the north to the south, and from the south to the north. I am no abolitionist, neither am I a proslavery man; I hate some of their principles and especially some of their conduct, as I do the gates of hell. The Southerners make the negroes, and the Northerners worship them; this is all the difference between slaveholders. and abolitionists. I would like the President of the United States and all the world to hear this.

Shall I tell you the law of God in regard to the African race? If the white man who belongs to the chosen seed mixes his blood with the seed of Cain, the penalty, under the law of God, is death on the spot. This will always be so.

- JoD: vol.10 p. 110: (March 8, 1863)

It looks like BrighamYoung was pretty good at bashings.
