Republican Presidential Candidate Newt Gingrich was expecting to get two big endorsements in Des Moines Wednesday morning.
But he likely didn't expect an outburst that lead to one protester being removed from the event.
Kraig Paulsen, the Iowa Speaker of the House, and Bill O'Brien, his counterpart from New Hampshire, both endorsed Gingrich at the Statehouse.
A few moments after Gingrich took the podium, a small group of protesters jumped up and tried to talk with the former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. His security detail knocked one man into the American flag and pushed him out the door after he got too close to Gingrich.
"You just saw the 1/10th of one percent," Gingrich said. "I was at the University of Iowa the other day, and that same 1/10th of one percent. All noise, no thought. Try to drown out conversation."
A few protesters stayed quiet in the room and waited until Gingrich resumed speaking before they spoke up. They were allowed to wait in the hall, and followed Gingrich out of the Statehouse and to his car. None of them were arrested.
