Hot Air Presidential Survey Results for December posted at 4:06 pm on December 2, 2011 by Patrick Ishmael
For the second survey in a row, Newt Gingrich leads the pack with nearly 50% of the vote. Rick Perry has moved back into second place, coming in just ahead of Mitt Romney, who finishes third. Herman Cain has dropped from second place to fourth this after Cain led the survey only four weeks ago. Rick Santorum surges into fifth, nearly quadrupling his vote total from two weeks ago. Ron Paul and Michele Bachmann round out the main group.
Over 7500 ballots were cast this round. The graph to date is below.
Jumping into the internals a bit, who do Cain voters say theyll vote for if their candidate gets out? The top single vote getter turns out to be Gingrich. Top 5 are below.
And if Gingrich runs into trouble? Well, in terms of second picks that benefits
One last chart that I thinks worth noting and Ill get to the rest of the results. I was asked on Twitter several times yesterday why I included Palin in a survey question, now that shes out. This is why:
Palin is still a player in this race especially among the grassroots, and so speculation about what Palins kind words mean for Santorum shouldnt be taken lightly. Results follow:
What's most interesting to me, is how much support remains for Sarah Palin to enter the race. I certainly support her doing so, for a whole host of reasons, one of which, is our dismal slate of candidates.
So if Palin picks Santorum.. this can be a real 3-way race again.
Maybe if she picks him as a VP running mate. Her endorsement isn't going to move him into the top tier.
It would still be an interesting thing to see. Palin-_______ would likely be leading this primary right now quite handily.
I quit following when Palin decided not to run. I don’t turn on FNC even for Fox and Friends anymore. I skim here and have missed the last 2-3 hotair votes. Disengaged, resting the mind and avoiding the turmoil.
Palin is the only one who would attempt to clean up the mess but the establishment R and D would fight her to the end. Besides, she deserves to have a life and she has a great one right where she is.
The R will get my vote 11/2012 no matter who, as the saying goes even Charlie Sheen.
I can't help but wonder how that certain knowledge affects her. Heavy must lie the head of one who denies their ultimate duty and destiny on earth.
Prayers out for your recognition of your place in America's history, Sarah.
We are so screwed unless a real conservative can make it back to the top tier.
“We are so screwed unless a real conservative can make it back to the top tier.”
We are screwed and tatooed if the Messiah gets another term; vote for the Republican whoever it may be! My prediction is that the Messiah will implement a one time Wealth Tax of several percent as a huge money grab.
You are so wrong.
The republican choices that are being shoved down our throat are almost as bad as the evil that sits in the white house.
Party before principle?
I think not.
God is my leader and from here on out I am his servant, not the servant of a party hell bent on destroying this country as much as the other side.
As long as we continue to settle for this garbage than we will get what we deserve.
I have little hope that Bachmann or Santorum can accomplish that superhuman feat. They've given it their best, and have failed to gain traction, or (in Michelle's case), have even lost it.
Outside of Cain, they're the only ones in the race that I would trust to forward the will of The People, if elected. I can't, in good conscience, support any of the others.
The calculus is clear to me. Either Sarah Palin does what's right and stands for the nomination, or our fate is sealed. Both Gingrich and Romney would begin hearing the call of their establishment masters, or begin compromising with the socialist Democrats, if either of them were elected. Their histories and records strongly indicate that they would abandon their stated principles and carry on business as usual in Washington. That is a prescription for the death of the United States as we know it.
Sarah is well known for her uncanny and prescient political instincts. I know that she sees where this is going with crystal clarity. I only wonder whether that makes her feel duty bound to step in to the race.
If we stand for nothing, we'll go for anything. Like what's being offered to us at present.
What bothers me is so many damn Republicans will sit here and tow the party line to get back into the white house.
2012 is not like all of the other elections before it. Our very survival as a people, as a nation as an established society under God and his laws given to mankind are at stake. The choice is clear for some of us, for others their judgement is clouded by the same evil that seeks to destroy all that is good. God help us if we choose wrong, but I fear that he has asked us one last time to make the choice to stand with him.
After all, that is what has been done to Cain, and the sheer preponderance of the accusations has eliminated any sense of 'innocent until proven guilty' from the people polled, and even from a number of so-called 'conservatives' in this forum, who are now embracing a serial philanderer as their candidate.
If that continues, we'll get the steaming pile the electorate deserves.
When will it sink in that Cain is for Amnesty and that Perry is not?
“The republican choices that are being shoved down our throat are almost as bad as the evil that sits in the white house.” Total crap. NOT one of these people hate the American way of life. NOT one would daily work to weaken and destroy it. NOT one is an Alinsky trained socialist agitator. Every one is a more loyal and better American than this commie crook.
Your principle should be to protect this nation but such false and invalid claims will aid its destruction.
You and I are obviously on the same wavelength, friend. Like many others in this troubled nation, we clearly see that we're being steered toward making a choice which will only further erode our already damaged freedoms, and strengthen the power and hold of an invisible ruling elite over us all.
I'm beginning to think that there's a level of clarity of thought and purpose above so-called conservatism. I say that because so many so-called conservatives fail to see that we are again about to abandon our timeless principles in order to win a presidential election.
It's no win, if all we manage to do, is elect some person who's managed to con us with words we want to hear, yet who serves other masters. At some point, we simply have to stand for what we believe in, and demand the kind of leaders who also do.
Your wrong.
Rinos and establishment republicans have worked with the other side for years. Eroding our way of life and our freedoms along the way.
Tell me sir, are you content with losing your freedoms today or tomorrow?
You, like many here don’t seem to get it. Our way of life is threatened by both parties.
I want Sarah as well but Newt is his own man. There are no “establishment masters” pulling his strings. Not even the Stonecutters. While I am not a big fan of Newt or Mitt I do not share your feeling of doom. If we can elect more conservatives to the Congress it could provide them with conservative legislation and there won’t be a need to serve Left.
Let's see here.... Cain said that we need to "enforce the immigration laws already on the books."
Perry called me "heartless" for daring to think that the children of illegals don't deserve in-state tuition rates.
Get out of here with your fangirl worship. It's starting to look like a religious cult.
