Dear Governor Palin,

In the long sweep of human events, beginning rightly with the ministry of Christ, men and women have been asking the eternal question: Lord, what do you want of me? From Saul on the road to Damascus, to Martin Luther, at the dawn of the Reformation, to Soldiers who carry their nation’s best hopes and dreams in defense of liberty, this question has been repeated.

In farm and factory, in churches across the globe and in the corridors of power as leaders have knelt in prayer, that question resonates. George Washington, Abraham Lincoln… these two of our nation’s shining stars were humble enough to ask for divine guidance and direction. Washington, his (our) Army in desperate shape, fell to his knees in the snows of Valley Forge and stated the case for a birth of freedom. God answered. Lincoln, on his way to his Inaugural travelled from Springfield, Ill. to Washington, D.C. and along the way, prayed in earnest that God would somehow usher in “a new birth of freedom.”

Again, He answered.

Neither of these two men were sunshine Patriots. They did, instead, answer their nation’s call to somehow keep the idea of American freedom and exceptionalism alive. In our time, Ronald Reagan understood and answered Freedom’s clarion call. He stepped into the darkness and kindled the fires of freedom for a nation in real peril. He understood, as do you that history summons leaders and beckons them to rise above citizen status to live the life of statesman in defense of liberty That is where we are today.

Governor Palin, the struggles of today hearken us back to an earlier time when the nation’s future was at stake. A time when men and women of enormous faith knelt in the snows in distant places and asked our God for the chance to carry on the work of our forefathers. These struggles hearken us back to a time when, as the patriot song says, Soldiers served our great nation, “ From the frozen fields of Valley Forge to the trail called Ho Chi Minh, to the mountain slopes of Afghanistan to the streets of America.”

Governor Palin, will you answer that clarion call? Will you rise up and lend your statecraft, vision, and love of country to serve us as this nation, so richly blessed by God enters yet another “time for testing and choosing"? We, all of us signers of this petition, not unlike our forefathers “mutually pledge to each other (and to you) our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor" and graciously ask that you proudly accept our nomination for President of the United States and know that, just like the Soldiers of Valley Forge, with you at the helm, America’s better days are ahead of her and that America will be as President Reagan so proudly declared in his farewell speech, “...I've spoken of the shining city… in my mind it was a tall proud city built on rocks stronger than oceans, wind-swept, God-blessed, and teeming with people of all kinds living in harmony and peace, a city with free ports that hummed with commerce and creativity, and if there had to be city walls, the walls had doors and the doors were open to anyone with the will and the heart to get here. “ This is the America we all envision and the one we know, with your leadership as our President, is both real and attainable.

Governor Palin, will you allow us to join you on this great crusade? Now is the time, today is the day, our future together is here.

actually, it’ll be hillary

no GOP contenders right now have a chance of winning the ticket. yes, that’s unbelievable but true. here’s how it lays out:

to win, you must get your base out and either grab more then 50% of the independents or pull from the opposing parties base. basic rules.

perry is weak and most likely won’t last.

that leaves romney and cain.

the left wants romney, as they know in the general they will promote his mormonism and the far right will stay home.

if cain gets the nomination, then the left will play up how ‘black’ he is hoping to keep the far right home. the only problem would be potentially losing the votes in their base and possibility some independents. they will recover the independents by pushing cain’s a rich guy. close, but a loss for the GOP

meanwhile on the left, if 0bama steps up to run again, people will demand the ‘natural born’ status to be examined. he won’t want that and will step back.

that leaves hillary. she’s been positioning for a few months... we’ll see.

at this point, the left has a lock on 2012. only Sarah can change the game. if she runs independent, she will get the entire TEA party along with many independents. the question remains how much of the right belong to the TEA party... but there are plenty of independents in it for certain. she could also pull at the woman vote on the left, but not the pro-abortion vote. she might only get 20% of the women on the left, but it’s enough to make a problem for the DNC.

she said she would do it different. hell, i’d suggest she comes out swinging... “you want change? how about this” and announce in march or april. the media would go into overdrive trying to undermine her... which is free publicity. who needs a massive campaign warchest when you get the media free?

just the way i see it right now

Forget her. She played around and played supporters all summer long leaving everyone guessing INCLUDING any other potential Conservative choices whom earlier might have ran if she hadn't. If you want to fix this nation at least get a man with the knowledge and experience to do the job right and doesn't owe McCain and other RINO's his loyality. Draft anyone? Draft DeMint who is just about the most conservative one left in congress these days with the knowledge to get it done. Not perfect but better than anyone on the list now.

In the last two years, some folks who don't particularly care for Palin have become obvious.

Do you think maybe you might be confusing the two?

We presently have zero candidates for the office of president that have the desire, or the intelligence to recognize and take the necessary actions to preserve the nation in a free functioning state.

As much as I wish she would have run since she’s taken herself out of the race she’s nothing more than a political pundit to me now.

Albeit one that I agree with pretty much all the time but then again I don’t need someone to tell me what to think.

She had a chance to truly make a difference and she chose not to, time to move on.

Palin has proven her understanding through her many addresses to the public.

Please direct me to the evidence that any of the current candidates have the understanding and desire to correct the central problems that have brought us to this point.

Perry, Romney, and Ginrich have clearly demonstrated their desire to prevent the needed corrections. The rest have at least failed to address them.

why would she? they’ve given her no support, cover, or backing since 2008. they haven’t even mentioned that maybe, just maybe, national figures shouldn’t promote the gang raping of teenage girls.

the establishment GOP needs to be dissolved. period.

I don't know about Perry or Romney but here's a nice Q&A video just the other day of Gingrich on what his views are for fixing our problems.

I personally sat up in my seat (as it were) on his discussions regarding the Judicial system and what he would do about activist judges.

Nope, if I ‘write-in’ Palin’s name, I will be intensely proud of my vote and sleep very, very well at night. I’m not pulling the lever for yet another approved-by-the-establishment GOP bastard like Romney who will get into office and undermine all the issues I believe in. I’ve been burned too many times, and have truly, truly reached the breaking point.

If the country proceeds to go up in flames, and the streets run red with blood... I guarantee you I won’t give a single, solitary damn. It’s not as if the country is likely salvageable at this point anyway.

No. Sitting home and sulking would be the same. Throwing the establishment’s bowls of slop back in their faces is an act of protest. Sooner or later it begins, either in 2012 or in 2013.

I do not believe they will be beaten down or removed from their bunkers. They hold and will continue to hold authority within the party machine. They and the machine will eventually be abandoned. Not before 2013, but perhaps that soon. It will come, because they will not be reformed or removed. This year was the opportunity, and they have won every battles against the base.

Sorry for not replying to any of the posts on the thread, but I had to run out to service a customer right after I posted.

I must say that I’m surprised at the response this post got. I really didn’t expect more than maybe a dozen hits, and only put it up for those Palinistas who might feel compelled to respectfully ask the Governor to change her mind about running.

For what it’s worth, I’m living in the real world, and am ready to give my support to Herman Cain for the nomination.

That doesn’t mean I’m not keeping my options open, in case something goes cataclysmically wrong, like Romney surging ahead in the voting, or Herman Cain doing a swan dive, ala Perry.

Palin wouldn’t be the first person to ever need persuading to enter a presidential race. Dwight Eisenhower repeatedly said no to appeals from supporters. He finally answered the call when he was drafted at the nominating convention.

I don’t know if she can be persuaded, but she left the door open a few weeks ago in an interview on the Mark & Bob show, when she said “it would take an earthquake” for her to change her mind. Some folks heard that, and decided to produce that earthquake.

There’s a good chance that nothing will come of this effort, but at least it gives me the opportunity to let her know how I feel about her decision. I’m under no illusion that she’ll actually answer the call. At least she’ll know that many of us asked her to serve.
