She has always been known as a Tea Party darling as well as a staunch Republican.
But now Sarah Palin has nailed her political colours to the mast and changed her Facebook profile from Republican to 'Conservative'.
The move on the 'political views' section of her page has left political commentators struggling to decipher what the the former Alaska governor is trying to say.

One long-time blogger and Palin supporter wrote: 'I suppose one could draw a multitude of conclusions regarding this status change.
'I know that I certainly have. You can be certain that any move Sarah Palin makes has been well thought out and is with purpose.
'Could she possibly be sending a message to the RNC that they need to strengthen the conservative planks of the Republican party.
'Perhaps her promise of 'sudden and relentless reform' as addressed in her Indianola speech and more recently in her October 7th St. Louis speech is a sign that as in the past, neither party is safe from her scrunity.
'One thing is for sure, time will tell.'
The news comes as polls continued to indicate that Republicans arent sold on Mitt Romney and theyve been looking for other presidential candidates.
At least eight other Republicans have seen their standings soar in GOP primary surveys since the beginning of the year.....

Palin doesn’t matter now if she’s not running for president.
Apparently they were never aware of the fact that Sarah Palin’s facebook page ALWAYS had it on as “Conservative” maybe if they paid more attention they would have realized that
I believe the most solid assumption one could draw from this is she doesn’t think she has a home in the Republican Party anymore. Depending on what she does with this realization, it could have far ranging implications for the presidential nominees in terms of endorsements, the Republican Party in terms of grass roots numbers and dollars and perhaps the general election.
It should be, in her letter she said she would not seek
the GOP nomination for President. GOP being an important part of that sentence.
I also have “Conservative” in my profile, though I am a registered Republican. I am not thrilled with the party either, Sarah.
but .. but ... she’s irrelevant. Isn’t she??? Was there a memo? Did I miss the memo???
I am disappointed she didn’t change it to “Tea Party.”
.
See my tagline...
What does it mean? It means Sarah Palin is embarrassed to be associated with the current Republican party.
I wish it meant that she plans on running for president against both parties.
And it's been heading to the left ever since!
I don't identify myself as a Republican, either, but Register as one to be able to at least support Conservative Candidates in the Primaries.
And it's not even true. Just a stupid rumor that C4P ran with and has later apologized for. From C4P:
Update by Stacy: We have confirmed that Governor Palins Political Views designation on Facebook has always been listed as a Conservative. She has NOT recently made any changes to her Facebook profile. This was a rumor that got picked up by us. We apologize to Governor Palin for the error.
Uh, it means the London Daily Mail and LSM in general start chattering about it like a flock of magpies.
“(Draft Palin ‘12... For 3rd Party Run) “
Since you mention it, why the hell not!!! We need 4 years of Hillary (or 4 more years of Obama) to CLEAN UP this country.
My God, if we elected Cain, things would suck.
Yep, that would be best, yup.
Did not, don’t know when changed, but used to read republican.
I dropped “Republican” years and years ago
No, it isn’t. Nobody in the US heard about it.
Did you hear she isn’t running yet?
