As Americans suffer through the economic crisis since the Great Depression, anger continues to build. Not the manufactured anger and protests that we see at the Occupy Wall Street protests but an anger in middle America, what Richard Nixon described as the Silent Majority. These are voters who in 2008 elected Barack Obama and believed in his promise of hope and change. In 2010, after feeling betrayed by the leftward direction of the Obama Administration , they voted Republican believing that a Republican House would rein in the Obama Administration. Their anger continues to build. It is an authentic anger and they seek out leaders who express the anger authentically rather than politicians who give the same standard pat political answers. Thus we see the rise of Herman Cain. Cain is a non-career politician who gives voice to the anger of the American people, as he speaks directly to them without the soundbites that voters have become accustomed too. The big question for Cain is can he turn his momentum and rise in the polls into victories. The verdict is still out on that. The Romney Campaign is saying that they would prefer that he be their main opponent. Yet for every argument on why he cant, there is an equally compelling argument on why it doesnt hold.
Cains candidacy for President has been unorthodox since the beginning. First it defies conventional wisdom that you can run and win without having held elective office before. The Republican Party has only nominated 4 people in the last century without ever having held elective office Wendell Willkie, Dwight Eisenhower, William Howard Taft, and Herbert Hoover (Eisenhower was intimate with the ways of Washington from his military service, Taft and Hoover had served in the Cabinet). Of the three, Willkie lost.

My fear is that Herman Cain has had 1000s of hours as a radio talk show host and the Dems are laying in wait with quotes from his shows that they can twist out of context like they do with Limbaugh, Hannity, etc.
I think the libs aren’t going to attack Cain until he gets the nomination but it doesn’t mean he doesn’t have skeletons. It means the libs don’t want to use them until there’s no turning back.
Most of the other candidates have been more thoroughly vetted than Cain. And, unlike Obama, the lib media will dig up all types of dirt but nobody will be willing to bring any of it up for fear of the “racism” claim. But just wait until he runs up against Obama and then it will all come out in floods.
Someone remind me....has there been a single primary yet?
