Lesser of Two Evils? Or stay home from voting?

Posted on 10/04/2011 11:11:39 PM PDT by Lily4Jesus

Quick simple inquiry ...

My wife spends a lot more time here on Freepers than I but we both love you all.

We have an impasse .... she says that if the right tea party candidate (not Romney, Christie, etc) is not the final candidate against Obama, then many people (assuming she is talking about people here on Freepers) will simply NOT vote, i.e. will stay home from voting ...

Is that true? I mean, for example, if we end up with two 'pro-choice' candidates to vote for (Obama and someone with an R next to their name) would I as a pro-life voter simply stay home? Heck no ... I would vote for the 'lessor of two evils', the one with the "R" (God forbid it's a RINO!)

Just curious as to what peoples sentiments are here ... also will help me understand what circles my wife's been talking! ;-)

Hey, RonDog, hope all is well with you!!!

In truth I am a Perry backer because I like what he has done in my home state - Texas. I’m not sure who the “him” is whose name you mentioned and made me upset. If it is Huntsman, I repeat, he will never be the GOP nominee.

As you asked:

The primary is the proper time to debate the pros and cons of the Republican candidates. Come November, I and others in my circle will be voting for the R.

and how do you think McCain won? GOP primary voters placed him there. I only voted for him because of Sarah, but dear God, anyone with a clue knew he was better than obama. Again - if you have your way and you dreamboat does not get elected - i fully expect you to STFU for the next four years of EVERYTHING and ANYTHING obama does.

I also supported McCain, in the general election, not the primary, and for the very reason you state : Palin. If not for Palin he could have gone pound sand as far as I was concerned. The primary voters were sold a bill of goods with McCain. With the slick sales pitch from the Lame Stream Media and the usual establishment suspects in the party, the primary voters bought it hook, line and sinker. As far as being better than Obama, sure, he's not a Marxist and he doesn't pal around with domestic terrorists. But he does support open borders/amnesty, bigger government, unconstitutional laws, and spend, spend, spend. In my book McCain is an American hero who should have quietly rode off into the sunset a long time ago instead becoming a career politician who now makes himself look foolish and senile. If we nominate/elect another RINO we're still driving toward the edge of that same cliff. Obama is hitting the accelerator, the RINO will be tapping the brakes and passing around the Jim Beam, telling jokes and hoping we don't notice what's ahead. Sorry, not this time.

So since you didn't answer, I'll ask again. If by by some miracle Ron Paul captured the nomination are you still standing by your "anybody but Obama" philosophy?

I would vote for any of the above over obama in 2012 without hesitation:

Joran Vanderloot

O.J.

Madoff

BTK Killer

Scott Peterson

Casey Anthony

Pee Wee Herman

Zodiak Killer

or any combo of the above over obama if that were the choice.

I won’t stay home and not vote, but I may leave the presidental part of the ballot empty...don’t stay home if its romney, just vote the rest of the ballot to keep conservatives in congress....Conservative congress can put a damper on Obama if they have the backbone...

I am going to bookmark this thread for next year so I know who to thank, berate, mock, deride, and blame when we get four more years of hell under Obama because temper tantrum club does not get their dreamboat.

I have never understood why anyone would stay home just because they don’t like the presidential nominee. You also go to vote for:
Governor
Senators
Congressmen/women
state senate
state congress
sheriff
selectmen/mayor
Any proposals put forth for the town
Local officials have just as much to do with daily life as does the president.

I’ll vote for whoever I like the best in the primary.

If my choice doesn’t make it to the general, I will vote for whoever is on the rino ticket against Zero.

Staying home would mean a victory for Obama and his Brown Shirts. Staying home is a vote against the Republic and a vote for the gray goo of socialism.

Exactly, SeaWolf.

Imagine 2014 when ObamaCare fully kicks in and metastasizes into every area of our lives. When private medical records will be viewed by HHS government toadies to determine how much of a risk it is to insure each and every American under Obama's socialized healthcare (That IS in the bill! They WILL be able to look at your private medical records - tests, procedures, meds, etc.).

Imagine Obama replacing conservative Supreme Court justices with radical leftist ones. Imagine the unions and their goons expanding ten-fold or worse. Imagine all of us forgetting the term "Right-to-Work State". Imagine a nation going beyond the 50/50 tipping point where there are far more "takers" than "makers"...

Imagine Obama and his ever-expanding gang of Marxist czars - with an extra four (or more?) years - realizing their dream to "Transform America as we've known it".

{{{shudder}}}
